Description

500 years after the destruction of the Toba Catastrophe, things continued to worsen on the planet.  The world had not yet recovered from the disaster, and resources were still scarce.  And now the humans and Isu could not even depend on their cooperation for survival, as the Templars continued to fight the other survivors in their attempt to rule the world.  The survivors eventually had to result to band together in small groups of scavengers in order to carry on.  It didn't help either when a rogue Isu named Eris stirred up further trouble by stealing an Apple of Eden and ransoming it to Minerva, Juno, and Aphrodite.  The Templar, Paris, who belonged to the survival settlement, Troy, decided the Apple should go to Aphrodite.  The Assassins and several others, of course, wanted the Apple out of everyone's hands.  And thus the first major conflict since the Human-Isu War emerged: the Trojan War.

The Assassins, Odysseus and Achilles, ran a survival settlement named Ithaca, and were at the head of the fighting against the Trojan Templars.  The War was long, and many died, including poor Achilles.  But nonetheless, the Assassins carried on for the good of the people and their freedom.  Near the end of the War, Odysseus managed to infiltrate Troy by helping his men build a giant horse out of scrap metal from their ships.  The Assassins waited inside until the Trojans brought it in, thinking it was a trophy of defeat.  Once in, the Assassins sprung out, killed the Trojan Templars, took the Apple, and hid it away forever.  After the War was finally over, everyone returned to their survival groups… except for Odysseus.

Odysseus got lost at sea on his way to Ithaca, as the Isu Posidon purposely altered the ocean's currents due to his rivalry with the Assassin.  Odysseus was lost for years, trying to find his way back home before the Templars managed to infiltrate it and take over.  After many years, Odysseus finally made it back, only to find that the Templars had indeed invaded his home and threatened to take his wife, Penelope.  With the help of his son, Telemachus, and his guide, Minerva, Odysseus defeated the Templars and saved his friends and family from their tyranny, marking another victory for the Assassins.

After the conflict ended, the world's people went back to trying to survive.  This kept get more and more difficult, however, as the Earth was far from recovery.  The Isu eventually went extinct, and the last remaining humans were left with nothing but nature to aid them.  Any traces of civilization were eventually buried and forgotten.  Survival was the only thing left to focus on.  After millennia, the humans lost most of their former culture, and became more animalistic than their ancestors.  And once the ice started forming, most of the old cultures and habits were gone… but thankfully, after the planet recovered, a new age emerged for humans.  And through the cold, bitter ice, humanity would soon be reborn.

Interesting fictional take on the Trojan War. Traditionally it is depicted as occurring around 1200 BCE or so but you have it occurring way further back in time in 74,500 BCE. A bit of an odd depiction, but it does make it fit well with the AC setting's Isu backstory.

Yeah, a lot of mythology stuff kinda has to be shifted in time to account for the isu sections of it Lots of human-god hydrids in the Trojan War story and it's kinda hard to do that when all the isu have been long extinct lol

Incidentally, I wonder how the various fantastic elements of Odysseus' story would be depicted in a scenario like this. After all he was said to have met things like a cyclops, rock throwing giants, a witch that turned his men into pigs, sirens whose songs could take over the will of men, a nine-headed monster and a whirlpool monster. He even went into the underworld where he met the ghosts of his dead family.
A mixture of Piece of Eden induced illusions and other odd Isu related stuff perhaps?

Also, at some stage pretty late in the story but before his return home Odysseus landed on an island called Scheria, which some have equated with Atlantis due to a number of similarities, and where he got some help from the local king in getting back home. That also brings up the intriguing issue of how Atlantis might fit into AC lore. The kings of Atlantis were said to have been demi-gods, being descended from a union between Poseidon and a mortal woman called Cleito. I guess in AC lore this would then make them human-Isu hybrids.

I don't know about the ghost thing but the interpretation for the underworld that I use in my fanfics is sort of this dimension between the fabric of spacetime where isu prisoners are tormented

And an underwater isu city would be awesome to explore lol

Yeah, it really can be a challenge.  Since the games show so little of the Precursors and their style, it can get kinda hard to come up with designs.  I try my best though.

Yay!  Mythology! <3
