Description "Jurassic Park 3" movie study:
Spino's Kill

Reference: screenshot from JP 3 DVD

This time I took a scene from the most debated moment in the Jurassic Park fandom, it's the moment right after the Spinosaurus killed the Tyrannosaurus. ^^'
Maybe one of the less fortunate scenes, but I focus here more on the art and practice related aspect like environments, gestures of either humans and dinosaurs and to teach myself about how to discern different shades of colors.
With "Roar of the Indominus"  I've already done a jungle scene, but without multiple characters like the fleeing humans and the two dinosaurs as well.

Trying to read some of the blurry, less noticeable shapes gave me some headaches, simply because I didn’t know what to draw. Especially, the running woman on the left side, whose shape is kinda blurry due to her movement. I slowly get fond of blocking out the shapes of figures by paint strokes instead of sketching some lines to define their shape and posture.

PERFECTION 👌

God I wish people got over this... Kong kills a Rex and he's a hero! Spino does it (I mean neither the Rex or Spino are 'good' ) and the internet for nearly 20 YEARS has lost its shit over it

Dang, this is really impressive! You've gotten far better at humans, it seems.

Thank you for the compliment, but I think I will have to draw several studies until I can draw a human freely without directly copying the posture.

I just love how you captured the gigantism of the JP Spinosaurus!

Thank you much for the lovely comment there. Such studies are also nice to examine how perspectives work, when you compare the protagonists in the picture.

For me it looks a bit bewildering to imagine a predatory theropod breaking the neck of its prey. Modern day predators often try to sever the main blood vessel at the neck or simply suffocate it.
Tyrannosaurs, assumed they are adults would have had the bite force to perform that, but in most cases wounds, shock and blood loss might have caused the prey to die.
