Stardate 2369.4, The U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701-B) encountered a sevear gravimetric distortion so bad I collapsed there warp feild. Upon reaching the source at full impulse in just under three hours, the Enterprise picked up a distress call from the eighty-years missing U.S.S. Jenolan that had crashed landed on the surface of a vast Dyson Sphere. When Commander LaForge took an away team, Lieutenant Ro Laren discovered seven intact patterns in the transporter buffer that where enhanced by a portable pattern enhancer. The subsystem was the only functional system remaining other than minimal life-support, both system where tied together and locked in a continues diagnostic cycle. Commander LaForge discovered that what keep the Jenolan functional was that it was using the electro magnetic field being generated by the sphere.
When Lieutenant Ro, disengaged the diagnostic cycle, the transporter rematerialized the survivors. Among them where famed Starfleet Captain Montgomery Scott and his wife, Janice Rand. The five reaming bridge officers of the Jenolan where Captain James Armstrong, Ensign Matt Franklin, Lieutenant T'Vara, Chief Petty Officer Darnel Granger and Lt. Commander Solas. After the Jenolan was salvaged by the U.S.S. Fearless, Captain Picard requested that Starfleet send a older ship to take Scotty, Rand and the others to Earth but little did he realize that the U.S.S. Stargazer was dispatched.
When Scotty, returned to Earth, he and Janice drew up designs to have the remaining Constitution, Oberth, Miranda and Constellation-Class starships be refitted with out having to severally alter the hull configuration.
