in 2287, the Lexington-Class was devloped Copernicus Fleetyards, orbiting Luna as an offshoot of the Excelsior-Class. The Lexington-class was designed to be a smaller, more armed ship to command fleets that needed heavy firepower but did need a dedicated command ship. Generally Fleet Captain's or Commodore's took command of these vessels as command ships for battle groups or attack wings.The Lexington-class ships featured advanced sensors and utilized been used in deep space exploration.

Later that year, the Dvorak trasnoprted a number of Federation delegates and President Ra-ghoratreii to the natural world of Khitimor for negotiations with Chancellor Azetbur, and the signing of the Khitimor Accords. When the U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701-A) entered the Khitimor system, a Section-31 operative on board uploaded a viris that overloaded the primary power cuplinks to the transporter, wepons, communications systems, and locked down the shuttlebays. In essance, the Dvorak was left dissabeled and unable to render assistance.
