Description
The Triton-Class cruiser was developed in 2296, by Commander Kristoph Allenwwod and Dr. Jillian Taylor at Utopia Planetia Fleetyards, orbiting Mars Colony. The Trion-Class was designed primarily for scientific research mission and planetary surveys. Its design consisted of a primary hull with the secondary hull positioned below and aft of the saucer. Two advanced war nacelles connected dorsally to the secondary hull with pylons that angled ventrally. The navigational deflector dish was located on the forward face of the secondary hull. A combined sensor module with a integrated photon torpedo bay was mounted near the aft-dorsal of the saucer section resembled a similar structure. The shuttle bay was at the aft-most section of the secondary hull.

In 2297, the U.S.S. Triton (NCC-3700), along with the U.S.S. Yorkshire (NCC-5427) survayed the reminents of the Genisis Planet in the Mutara Sector. Deep partical analysis revealed that the Genisis wave was still active inthe planetary debris feild at the celular level. The Tritons' Science Officer, Lt. Commander Suran speculated that the unstable proto matter would cause a complete breakdown of all organic matter with the debris over the next three hunded years and advised that further study of this phenominan is recomened. Commander Suran also theorized that once once the proto matter become inurte, the Mutara Nebula would eventually reform itself by the 32nd century.
