Description
The Wallace-Class was designed by then-Commander Robert W. Lindsey at his ancestral home of Balcarres House in Scottland, Earth in the early 2280's and is remincent to the Magee-class. The Wallace-class broke from the traditional design of Starfleet's primary/secondary hull configerations of the 23rd century. Instead it incorporated everything into a compact form, consisting of a saucer with two necelles housed in large cowlings that swept back along the length of the ship. Each nacelle contained a exposed ram scoop in the front and the with the warp nacelle grill alond the dorsal ports. The bow of the ship housed the primary navgational deflector, with a tactical modual similar to the Miranda-class mounted on the ventral part. Described as a "little research ship", especially compared to the Constitutin-class, the Wallace housed six decks, and carried more probes then photon torpedos in it's manafest.

In early 2286, the U.S.S. Edzell (NCC-1551) was launched from Aberdeen Shipyards - Earth under the command of now Captain Robert W. Lindsey. During his first mission to survey the Aklon system for six weeks as a possible site for a Vulcan colony, Captain Lindsey met a young vulcan: Sturek, son of Stonn who was given the rear oppertunity to be a civilian intern in the Science divisons. Unfortunately the Aklon system was hit with a Class IV Ion storm which would lengthen the survay from six weeks to fourteen. Sturek theroized that by modifying a series of Class III probes, this would allow the Edzell to gain more additional data and complete the survay with the origional six weeks period then conventional means. The Edzell's Science Officer, Lieutenant Jeffery Crusher endorsed and implemented this radical, yet logical approch. Impressed by Sturek's initiatives and problem solving abilities, Captain Lindsey gave a formal written recomendation to Sturek for his application to Starfleet Acdamey.
