Note: In this tutorial I'm assuming you know how to use PMD editor, MMD, and Google SketchUp. If you don't know how to use any of these, I don't think you should be looking this up just yet.

Woot mah first tutorial EVAR. I hope this helps, because I've gotten a couple questions about how I bring SketchUp models into MMD. This is the answer! :3

I'm a little bit confused. Are you asking me where to get the program MikuMikuDance?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dA-Police-J In reply to CaramelChocolatez [2011-09-13 05:13:17 +0000 UTC]

Yes and where to get the models.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaramelChocolatez In reply to dA-Police-J [2011-09-14 01:00:28 +0000 UTC]

Here is where you can get MikuMikuDance. When you get there download the MultiModel Edition so you can animate more than one model.

Here is where you can get models, stages, accessories, motion data, and stuff like that. This webpage only appears in Japanese though. And I use Google Chrome and have it set up so it automatically translates it for me.

This is probably a stupid question, but... Does Google Sketchup work for Windows XP? And is a graphics card necessary?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaramelChocolatez In reply to GaleTheChocobo [2011-07-02 07:19:58 +0000 UTC]

The operating system I'm using at the time of that tutorial was Windows XP. I'm pretty sure it works for most Windows operating systems from XP to Vista to blah blah etc. There's even a Mac version, but I'm not sure how that would work there.

Well, I assume you have a graphics card. In fact I'm pretty sure everyone should have one, or everything on their computer wouldn't show up right. If you mean graphics card driver updates, then I suggest you update your drivers.

Sorry for the late reply.

A sketch up model is a 3D model made in the program Google SketchUp.

I can't believe my ears o_o You are...not human.. 20 whole things?! Wow!
Well, that would be very useful since me and a friend are making a mmd version [comics] of one game we know. But we can only do the models and there are so many items and creatures that can't possibly be made by us. I'm guessing the creatures are impossible to do.. but only some weapons [no, those kind of weapons are not in the mmd mall] would be soo helpful if you make!

there isn`t a google sketchup folder on mah PC

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaramelChocolatez In reply to shadoouge [2010-10-15 22:41:29 +0000 UTC]

Well that doesn't make much sense; when you get Google SketchUp it also puts a Google folder on your PC. :\

Well maybe when you installed Google SketchUp, you had the files go to a different place on your computer...? On my computer when I was installing Google SketchUp, I didn't change the place where all the files go. So my folder went to C:/Program Files/ as a default.

Very useful tutorial!
Did you change the unicode settings on your computer to get it to run Japanese programs? I did, and it chaged all the slashes to yen signs

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaramelChocolatez In reply to false-prophetess [2010-10-06 03:07:30 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

Yeah! That happened to me too! I have no idea why that is. Also sometimes I'll get messages from other programs on my computer but they appear all in Japanese.

And I'm sitting staring at the screen like because I can't read any of it. XD

false-prophetess In reply to CaramelChocolatez [2010-10-06 03:09:57 +0000 UTC]

Same! I installed an expansion pack for The Sims 3...and the installation was in Japanese. Luckily my game stayed in English!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaramelChocolatez In reply to false-prophetess [2010-10-06 03:16:54 +0000 UTC]

Whoa, I didn't know it messed with The Sims 3 also!? I have the Sims 3 but I haven't played it in ages. XD

I wonder if there's a way to change it back but if I do that, I don't think PMD Editor will work on my computer again. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

false-prophetess In reply to CaramelChocolatez [2010-10-06 03:26:25 +0000 UTC]

It's either cope with the yen signs and Japanese when you install programs or not have PMD Editor/UTAU. If you take it off, it also mucks any downloaded MMD model whose bones are named in Japanese.
