I greatly appreciate your comment ! Agree with you it does look a bit too dark, but I thought that since I was seeing it as a "storm cell" the sky should be dark. Though I saw other submissions that made the "clouds" look as if they were either in Sunset or Sunrise and they look fabulous.
I love Space scapes and would have liked to make some sort of nebula, must practice a bit more.

I was amazed to see what people did, that's for sure. Makes me think that I should make more tutorials to share what I know. I have an idea for one...but apart from that, I don't have much material to make tutorials on.

It would be awesome to make a spacescape with these fractals! That's on my todo list, as unfortunately school has hit me up and kept me incredibly busy, and I haven't been fractalling in my free time thanks to a game beta...

Unfortunately, I cannot get anything whatsoever like you have in the tutorial. After scaling down and rotating Xform4, all I get is straight lines, instead of the fluffy, blurry image you have.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChaosFissure In reply to LadyLyonnesse [2012-03-29 18:35:31 +0000 UTC]

Can you send me screenshots of what the xforms look like or the params via a note?

Also, if you will be on in...five or six hours (when I am done with classes for the day), I can do a live tutorial of this and answer any questions you may have then.

Sorry I can't do much now :/

Looks pretty cool so far

All of the white spots seem very powerful, but I don't know if that was your intention to do so.

I am glad that you found this helpful; if you have any questions or anything, I'd be happy to lend what help I can!

Sin-nombre In reply to ChaosFissure [2012-03-27 15:19:38 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I already have made some spacy softy ones, but those I left them as wallpaper for my pc; for this piece I intended to leave it all contrasted, and in black and white.
That was meant for the message of the piece -what I learned from the tutorial wasn't used as principal object, but as a resource from your tut- but don't worry, next time I will do an space art, I will use this technique, and it will be the center of attention n_~

Cheers!

ChaosFissure In reply to Sin-nombre [2012-03-27 15:28:07 +0000 UTC]

I'm perfectly fine with it being a background part of a composition - these fractals can make amazing space backgrounds! I just was wondering the reason for there being such a stark contrast. Now I know

I do have problems to find depth.

And this is my second try [link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChaosFissure In reply to Gerda1946 [2012-03-24 18:38:48 +0000 UTC]

Not bad for starting out If you're looking for more depth, you'll probably need to alter contrast / color curves, which is where the second part of my tutorial will come in.

I can probably do a live demonstration of the second part in the meanwhile, considering it might take quite a bit of time to make.

Gerda1946 In reply to ChaosFissure [2012-03-24 19:13:27 +0000 UTC]

When you think its nog bad I can wait for the second part to come out. I think you are busy enough to get that one ready!!!
