Description
Since so many people have been asking me how to put clothes on models, I decided to make a tutorial. This is my first tutorial, so it might not explain everything clearly. Please, if you have questions, comment below and I will do my best to answer them.Oh and one more thing, I forgot to mention to right-click on the selected layer and the click on Ctrl+P/Ctrl+S

I've never had problems with clothing looking weird. Well, unless I'm attempting to shrink the boobs on a 3DCG shirt. Then it's just a given that it's not going to work well without taking it to meta or something.

Well there are certain types of clothes that don't really look right with just resizing because when the model moves, a body part sticks out or something.

That's probably just a rigging issue. I find it simple enough to fix. Pretty much the only time I'll delete skin is when I'm looking to lower the poly count on the model.

But, in the end, different things work for different people, so whatever you want to do. It's just worth mentioning that your way isn't the only way, and it might not even be the best way for some people. (:

Yeah! I totally agree! I'm just showing people what works for me, and so far it seems to work for a lot of people.

Which part doesn't work? Sometimes PMDe won't make the new layer. So I normally save what I have and completely close out of the program then I reload it. Usually it works after that.

btw. How do you delete an item?
I imported rins armwarmers and I only want one...how do I get rid of one of them?

chocosunday In reply to miku1 [2012-04-28 21:13:07 +0000 UTC]
Follow the tutorial, it's explained there. You delete items the same way you delete the unwanted parts.

Oh do you have more than one layer selected? If so, that won't work. You can only delete one layer at a time.

one more question xDD
How do you move an item?
π: 0 β©: 1
chocosunday In reply to miku1 [2012-04-28 21:35:38 +0000 UTC]
Well, when you select the item layer, you highlight it by clicking and dragging the cursor over the item right? There should be arrows that appear then. Just click on the arrows to move it.

Yay, there's a tutorial for putting clothes! QwQ
I have the same problem as shown in panel 5, and I understand half of the explanations of panels 6-10, but I'll still try it! :3
Um, where do I apply the 'right-click on the selected layer and click on Ctrl+P/Ctrl+S' like you said in the description?
Thank you for making this, it really helped (especially since I have a Japanese PMDe and the translated one doesn't work on my laptop... T^T), usually I'm a visual learner, and it's really well-done too! =3

Have you installed new visual c++, new .netframwork and new direct x9 on your laptop? Some of my friends use it on their laptop with this three installed on their laptop, and it works fine. You should try install it. If it still doesn't work, I'll try it on my nephews laptop to see if it works or not.

Yes, I did, but I think it doesn't work on Windows XP which is my laptop's OS.

Have you update your XP? Like, update to service pack 3?

I don't know, usually my older brother does that since he knows how, but I think it's not... I'm already getting used to using the Japanese version of PMDe, and I can only use the easy parts. I'd still like to use the English version though.

Yep. I have those already. I think you need directx9 anyway to run the new MMD.

I'm using the v7.39 version of mmd (multiple model edition), I think this the newest version (with dx9). What version of your mmd?
π: 0 β©: 1
chocosunday In reply to zx2011 [2012-04-28 21:39:35 +0000 UTC]
Same as yours, the MikuMikuDanceE_v739 version.
The PMDe that I use is the PMDEditor_0063(SlimDXοΏ½XοΏ½V) and the new PMDEditor_0138 for .pmx models.

zx2011 In reply to chocosunday [2012-04-28 21:49:22 +0000 UTC]
Same here then, I also use PMDeditor_0063(Slimdxxv) and PMDeditor_0138.
But I haven't use the PMDeditor_0138 for PMX modeling, I intend to use it after some of my oc model are complete. I want to try to make an oc model of mine to PMX file using the PMDeditor_0138 next. How about you? Have tried the PMX yet? If you have, do you have any suggestion for me? Thanks

Yeah I have, all I can say is that the layout is a bit different from the old version. It has a couple new features that I have yet to explore. It's great because you can add physic bodies a little better than you can on the previous versions. Once you get your bearings, you'll get used to the new version pretty quickly.

Ah, now I understand! QwQ
I tried it right away and it was great!
Thanks so much again~! I'll link you if I'm done :3
Now, I'm done putting clothes, but they don't seem to follow the model...it ended up staying still while the base moves. o.o'
Is it because of something, and is it necessary to remove the part beneath the clothes like in Animasa Miku?
Sorry about that...! Excitement and confusion is all around me when I'm doing MMD + PMDe... >.<'

Use the direction panel to the right, or select the clothing layer and drag it up using the arrows.
