For Spitfire Mother's Day contest. In these kind of contest, I love using characters that few know or would think to use. Cody and his mom are certainly two such characters.Rescuers Down Under was my favorite movie as a kid and I still love it to this day. After rewatching it a few times as an adult I couldn't help but notice how terrible the events of the movie would be for Cody's mother. It's mentioned early in the film that Cody's father is dead, and when he is kidnapped by McLeach and she calls the rangers to search for him, all that is found is his crocodile-chewed backpack, leaving her to assume he's dead. I can only imagine losing both a husband and a son would be the worst feeling in the world and kind of felt a little upset that we never see the two reunite. So I made it myself.
Added Bernard, Bianca and Jake in the image because I thought they should get to see the fruits of their labor. The background is really shoty. Still not great with those. Also, please tell me how my lighting/shading is. I've been trying to work on it and I'm not sure how well it payed off here.

I absolutely love this, this is a perfect added ending, the movie ends with everyone flying on the eagle into the starry night with Cody saying: β-letβs all go home!β This picture is perfect for that ending, seriously perfect. Itβs still night time suggesting that they DID immediately go home, in fact: the movie actually ends with Wilbur still being at the eagles nest at night so this reunion must be happening at that very moment.

Yeah I always wondered how they ended up, even as a child I was worried about them because in the back of my head I knew they were still locked up and with McLeachβs death Cody would be the only one who knew they were even thereΒ

I just read about McLeach possibly surviving the waterfall via curling up in a ball, if that were the case then I would just assume he just be on the run because of Cody and his mother possibly (if not obviously) reporting the authorities about what really happened

I highly doubt he could survive that. jumping from 150 feet (46 metres) or higher on land, and 250 feet (76 metres) or more on water, is 95% to 98% fatal. 150 feet/46 metres, equates to roughly 10 to 15 stories in a building, depending on the height of one story. 250 feet is the height of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
Now, the waterfall he fell from was way higher, easily surpassing 250 feet. But even if he would curl up in a ball, he would only hit the water faster because the water is accelerating his body down. The G-forced created in that are enough to smash you to oblivion. And then thereβs the most obvious thing: thereβs probably a lot of rocks on the bottom. And even they werenβt the water wouldnβt be nearly deep enough to absorb the impact of your body if youβre going to hit it from that high. Needless to say, the fall alone probably killed him.

even if he's dead, I guess it still worth reporting the authorities about the fact Cody was kidnapped and McLeach fabricated his death in order to get away with kidnapping him scot free and to not have the authorities stand in his way

Nah. I don't think she even notices them. She's a bit preoccupied at the moment.
And even if she noticed them, she probably wouldn't be afraid, just confused as to why mice are wearing clothes (or why they aren't wearing pants

I might cry ;_;. I love this movie, and I always thought that if they showed Cody reuniting with his mother I'd have bawled my eyes out. I love how you have Bernard and Bianca arm in arm. I wonder how his mother would react to seeing a massive goldern eagle in their front yard. Maybe she wouldn't notice. great work.

I think she'd be pretty shocked to find a giant eagle landing in the front yard and pretty protective of her son until she learns what happened.
And if she saw the two anthropomorphic mice and the kangaroo rat, she'd either think she's going crazy or if she can hear them talk, she'd ask them if they really saved her son. And if they reply that they really did save her son, then she'd probably thank them for and Marahute for bringing her son back to her in one piece.

ha ha! Well, I assume the eagle has already flown off or is on the roof. I was going to draw her flying off in the sky, but it was late and I was tired and lazy.
