Lucas was in his early twenties and about to see a new science fiction movie. He got there a little early so he sat in the lobby waiting for the previous movie to end. It was there that he noticed a peculiar sight. A woman about his age had a coloring book out and was coloring one of the pages.

He decided to take a closer look. When Lucas introduced himself, she told him her name was Cindy. She explained that college life was rough and she used the coloring book to help her relax. Lucas wanted to get to know her better so he asked if he could color too. She eagerly agreed.

Cindy turned the page so they could start fresh. On the next page was a little girl who appeared to be staring off into space. Lucas began to color her, starting with her eyes, while Cindy worked on the background. When he colored her eyes, his own eyes felt weird. He felt dizzy and covered his eyes with his hands so the dizziness would end. When it did, he just shrugged it off and continued coloring.

Lucas did not notice how every time he colored in a particular feature on the girl in the coloring book, one of his own features changed to match it. First his eyes, then his hair, then his clothing, and then his facial features changed to match the girl in the coloring book. He glanced around at the people in the lobby. There were only a few of them and they were just as oblivious to the changes as he was.

Whether Cindy noticed the changes or not, she continued coloring the background and the stuffed bear right next to her. She colored more and more slowly. Eventually she stopped coloring completely and just let Luna take over. Luna did not notice she was the only one coloring. She felt like something had changed but she could not figure out what it was.

Luna was having more and more trouble coloring inside the lines. She tried not to let it get to her. She just wanted to finish her drawing. With determination and the use of every color crayon she had available, Luna was finally done. She showed her drawing to her mommy. Cindy told her she had done a good job. Luna was pleased.

Just then it was announced that the movie they wanted to see had begun seating. Luna put the coloring book away and Cindy took her to see the new full length cartoon.
