Lex was a student at Magic Academy. He went to the library supposedly for research but his actual intention was to learn some spells that would enable him to cause havoc for the other students. In a room full of books filled with magic spells, he had no idea it was a magical object that would give him the most trouble.

On the library desk off to the side was a jar filled with gum balls of many different colors. Next to the jar was a sign asking students to guess how many gum balls were in the jar. Lex had heard about this kind of bubblegum. It came in every flavor imaginable. No two gum balls were exactly the same.

This was the perfect opportunity for him. When no one was looking, Lex took a bright pink piece of bubblegum, put it in his mouth, and started chewing. It tasted like bubblegum. That should not have been surprising because it was bubblegum but it was surprising because he thought no two pieces of bubblegum tasted exactly the same.

Lex was not paying attention to what he was doing. Not only was he loudly chewing the bubblegum he had stolen, he had changed the number of gum balls in the jar which would make the contest unfair and alert people to his theft. Lex had not considered either of these things. In fact, he had not thought of much else other than gum chewing.

As Lex attempted to walk and chew gum at the same time, he felt a tingling sensation all over his body. He fell over from the effort. No one seemed concerned. With considerable effort, he was able to crawl over to a chair and sit down. Changes were happening all over his body but he was only concerned with blowing bubbles and seeing how big he could make them before they popped.

Lexi was getting her second wind. It was making her feel refreshed and confident as if she could do anything. She brushed her hair away from her arms. Although she did not remember her hair being quite so long, it clearly was. She also did not remember wearing quite so much pink, but she clearly did. It was part of her color coordinated outfit.

On the desk nearby off to the side was a jar filled with gum balls. Next to it was a sign asking the students to guess how many gum balls were in the jar. Lexi decided to give the contest a try. She counted all the gum balls she could see. Once she got past ten, she started skipping numbers and then repeating them so she just wrote down 20. She was confident that was the answer.

After that Lexi left the library proud of the fact that she really could walk and chew gum at the same time. She could not remember why she had entered the library in the first place but she was certain it was for the contest. It was not like she was actually going to try to read. She had more important things to do.

Some time later, the librarian cast a spell on the jar of gum balls and noticed it was glowing. That meant someone had taken a piece without permission. The jar was actually a trap designed to attract students who were up to no good. There was no telling what changes had been made. She would alert the teachers so they could change back whoever it was, but she knew from experience they would not be in any hurry.
