Words Below:

Calvin had just eaten at a local restaurant and was walking home.  He had done this many times before.  Suddenly he realized that he was a woman.  His name was Carmen and something was very wrong.  Quickly he ran to a nearby window and looked at his reflection.  He was clearly a man, a man he did not recognize.

Carmen screamed.  It was not as high pitched as he would have liked but it was still enough to get the attention of anyone around him, or at least it should have.  Some people were close enough to have heard the scream but they just continued with what they were doing as if he had made no noise at all.

Carmen looked around nervously.  His breathing greatly increased as if he had been running and sweat formed all over his body.  He wiped the sweat off as best he could and tried to remain calm.  Inside his pocket was a wallet.  Carmen guessed that would tell him something about himself.

The address was the same.  However, the first name said Calvin and the picture matched what he currently looked like.  Carmen did not know what to do.  No one would be able to recognize him.  No one had even reacted to his scream.  It was as if everything he knew about his previous life had ceased to exist.

Carmen decided the best thing to do was just go home like he planned to do before.  Things would be the same as they were until he had to go outside again.  That would give him time to think.

As Carmen walked home, more changes happened.  This time the changes were happening to his body.  He was looking more and more like the person he remembered being.  Once again he ran to the nearest window so he could watch the changes happen.  After about a minute he, or she, had become completely female.

Carmen was relieved.  She thought she going to have to get used to a completely different life.  Instead she just dismissed it as some some sort of hallucination, probably due to the food she had just eaten.  That still meant she should get some medical advice, but she could worry about that later.  She entered her home and got some much needed rest.

Unknown to her, two people had been watching her from the moment the changes began to the moment she entered her home.

"This is why we do the physical changes first," the witch explained to her assistant.

"I'm sorry," said her assistant.  "I did not know it would cause such an extreme reaction."

"That's alright," the witch assured her.  "No permanent damage was done.  Even with all the book knowledge in the world, sometimes the only way you can learn things is by trial and error."

Her assistant just looked at her and nodded.  Mental changes first was not something she was going to do again any time soon.
