Description
This idea came from a story I wrote when I was a child. Two children met an elderly couple in the middle of the woods who did not want them to leave because they had not had company in so long. They eventually escaped but it took awhile. Image - safebooru.org/images/2074/f197…
Words Below:
Stan was exploring the woods when he came across what he thought was an abandoned log cabin. To his surprise, an elderly couple was still living inside. They invited him inside and offered to give him a free meal. Stan accepted their offer. He was at least half an hour away from town. Although he had brought some food with him just in case, it was no substitute for a home cooked meal.
The elderly couple explained they had not had company in 40 years. Stan wondered how they had managed to last so long without anybody to help them out. They vaguely replied that the natural forces of the universe provided them with anything they needed.
As Stan ate, he started to become younger. The elderly couple also grew younger. Stan was also going through other changes. His hair grew longer, his clothing transformed, and his memories of the past became fuzzy. He thought it best to head home and get some rest. He tried to leave the log cabin but found an invisible barrier blocked the door.
"Please stay," the woman insisted. "It has been so long since we had anyone else around."
"What did you say your name was again?" asked the man.
"Stan," he replied. He felt dizzy and put his hands to the sides of his head in an attempt to recover.
"Shannon, lovely name," the man replied.
Shannon did not think the name was quite right, but it had to be. After all it was her parents who named her. Her parents looked young. It must have been the meal that restored their youthful energy. Shannon was also feeling young and ambitious, like she could run around outside for hours.
"I have something for you," said her mother as she opened a trunk in the corner, got out a hat, and gave it to her.
"Happy birthday!" her father quickly added.
"Thank you!" Shannon exclaimed. The hat went with her dress. She did not remember putting on a dress but looking down she was clearly wearing one. It was just another moment of absent mindedness on her part.
It was strange. Shannon had lost all track of time. She had not remembered her birthday or even how old she was. One day seemed like another when she spent most of her time in a log cabin in the middle of the woods. She recalled it was her 9th birthday. In another year, she would reach double digits. Maybe then her parents would allow her to go to town on her own.
