Words Below:

Elijah was a graduate student majoring in computer science.  He had just a few more classes to take before graduation and he could complete them all in one semester.  Already there were several businesses who wanted to hire him.  He could have his pick.  It looked like he had it made.

Then Elijah destroyed his entire future career with one foolish mistake.  He decided to play a prank on the school by creating a computer virus that would put their computers out of commission for hours.  The virus damaged not only the school system, but also the students who in turn unknowingly sent in to the rest of the city and other parts of the country.  The only reason Elijah did not create a major disaster is because he had programmed the virus to destroy itself after a few hours.

By the time the virus was done, it had done thousands of dollars worth of damage to the college and the students there and millions of dollars in damage to various businesses.  The virus Elijah thought was untraceable was traced back to him.  Not only did no one want to hire him anymore, he might spend the next few years in jail.  He would stand trial in a few days.

One of the female students asked to meet with him in secret.  She knew the trouble he was in and thought he would be willing to do anything.  It was almost true.

"I can provide you with a new identity," she explained.  "No one will be able to recognize you."

"What is the price?" demanded Elijah knowing she knew his desperation.

"You have to do what I say," she replied.  "You might even be able to tell time."

Elijah looked at her with confusion on his face.  He already knew how to tell time.  What did she mean by the statement?  Was it some kind of secret code?

"Look at the watch," she commanded.  "See how it swings back and forth, back and forth."

It was quite obvious she was hypnotizing him, but by that point Elijah had much to gain and little to lose so he let her do it.  He felt himself drifting into a void.  His mind became foggy as his body started to change.  Soon he found himself wearing a prom dress.

Thoughts of attending the prom with a boy entered his mind pushing any other memories aside.  Those other memories faded away into nothingness.  Meanwhile his, or her, body became completely female so that it once again matched up with her clothing and her mind.  The name Evelyn popped into her head.  That was her name.  Any other name she might have been called, faded away.

Evelyn was a high school girl.  Looking around her, she could see she was at a college.  Her memories were hazy but she guessed this was the college she was going to attend.  Then she started becoming even younger.  Thoughts of her prom and dating and wearing fancy dresses slipped from her mind.

This made Evelyn upset.  She tried to hang on to those memories but found herself unable to do it.  All she could see was the watch.  The hands on the watch were moving backwards.  It was slow at first, but the hands continued gaining speed until it was all a blur.

Vague thoughts of dancing and dating filled her mind.  These were things Evelyn hoped to do someday.  However, for the time being these things overwhelmed her,  She was not yet ready for these things.

Other thoughts filled her mind.  Thoughts of playing with dolls. meeting the other kids in her neighborhood, and going to school was what concerned her.  The spinning hands on the watch slowed down, stopped for a moment, and then moved forward at its usual slow pace.  Looking at the watch, Evelyn knew what time it was.  Most kids her age would not know but Evelyn was an exception.

"I can tell time!" Evelyn exclaimed.

"I knew you could do it," said the college aged woman with the watch.  "Your tour of the school is over.  It is time to take you back to your parents."

Evelyn agreed.  She knew she had a bright future ahead of her.  The college woman would sell Evelyn's old belongings and give the money to her parents.  They in turn would pay her for her services.  Although the trial would never happen, Elijah would never be seen again.  This would be a warning to any other potential hackers in the world.

As for Evelyn, she decided to stay away from computers.  They gave her nightmares.  She would use her high intelligence for something else.  She was not completely happy with her new life but it was better than it could have been and completely worth the price she paid for it.
