Alan was a student at Magic Academy who wished to communicate with the dead. He had no idea he would end up stuck in the middle of a huge conflict previously unknown to him. He expanded his mental energy to the area around him in search of any ghost willing to communicate. A ghost named Sophie saw her opportunity. She entered his body and made changes to it so he would look like she did back when she was still alive.

"Stop that!" demanded Alan even though he. or she, was in no position to demand anything.

"Quiet!" Sophie snapped back. "Do not interfere with my plans and I just might let you live."

Alan kept quiet. Sophie looked over all the students she could see until she spotted Laine. The formerly male student looked just like Katrina letting Sophie know she had found her. She cast a spell to stop time leaving the two of them the only ones still moving.

"Katrina!" roared Sophie. "You killed me and now I'm going to send you back to the world of the dead where you belong!"

"What do you want with Katrina?" asked Laine as he attempted to keep the two murders calm.

Katrina knew Laine was not capable of handling something like this and took over.

"You killed me first, Sophie!" Katrina reminded her.

Alan had no idea who Katrina was. Most schools would consider getting possessed by a ghost a big deal, but at Magic Academy magical mistakes happened all the time. Laine, like Alan, had lost control of his own body. He wondered if he would even survive the encounter.

Sophie cast a fireball, but Katrina created a shield and blocked it. Katrina then shot a purple beam of light at Sophie. She was also able to block it.

It turned out the beam of light was actually a distraction. Being in the world of the dead for so long meant Sophie was out of practice. Katrina was able to take advantage of it. Her real move was placing a sheet of ice on the floor just below her.

Sophie slipped on the ice and fell to the ground. Alan could feel the bruise since it was her body that had taken the fall. Wasting no time, Katrina immobilized Sophie. Knowing she could not allow Sophie to continue possessing Alan, Katrina left Laine and entered Alan too.

Katrina tried to change Alan's body to her liking, but discovered she could not. The body was stuck looking like Sophie. The best she could do was stay there and make sure Sophie did not regain control. This left Alan, Sophie, and Katrina fighting for control of the same body.

Laine promised she would help but she did not know what to do any more than the rest of them. Several days later after many attempts by the teachers, Laine was able to get her, or his, original body back. Alan was not so fortunate. She just hoped Sophie would never again get the upper hand.
