Squirtles in the Marverran region are a little more aggressive than their relatives in the Kantos region. Its shell has spikes that protrude from it to offer protection from its enemies. It will also use these spikes to ram into enemies to ensure that they leave Squirtle alone. Squirtle can be found living in the desert or near sources of water. In the desert, it has a special gland that allows it to eat sand and extract any water that the sand may contain. Its tail allows it to sense water within 3 kms of it by sticking its tail into the ground. If Squirtle cannot detect any water, it will withdraw into its shell and enter a comatose state until water is available for it.
Evolves into Wartortle at level 16, which then evolves into Blastoise at level 36.
