From what I see it is a tedious process of trial and error, when you could use the pen tool to do it. It may take more time but the outcome is good.

Shouldn't that be 10%? Simple typo.
The pupil is the black area of the eye in the center, the part around that, the colored part, is called the iris. Just thought of clearing that up.
Very nice tutorial. I'd probably put much higher value on it if I had a tablet and knew how to draw half as good as you.
