Description
This was a concept that was suggested/requested by , who thought that it would be a cool idea to add an alien with a specific, certain ability to my roster. I always love a good challenge (this is not an invitation for just anyone to spam my inbox with requests and the likes) and I liked the idea of making an alien that centered around this specific power. Ultimatrix1234 , if you'e reading this, this one's for you!Note: I am aware that there are many interpretations out there of an alien by the same name that all started with the version created by kjmarch . Keep in mind that this is my interpretation of said alien since all versions seem to share similar powers and traits with one another, whether it is intentional or otherwise.
Name: Angelhands
Species: Asklepion
Homeworld: Coropolla V
Powers/abilities: Angelhand's primary ability is to sense the physical pain in others and to be able to heal it. With healing hands that stimulate rapid celluar regeneration in his 'patients', he can cure and heal various injuries ranging from small cuts and nasty bruises to broken bones and even ruptured organs. Angelhand's can also slow the progression of poisons, venoms, and deadly diseases before they kill the victim, allowing enough time for a cure to be found.
Asklepion's possess a special type of enhanced vision that allows them to see inside the bodies of living organisms and immediately detect any sort of aliment they may suffer from, whether they are aware of it or not.
Asklepion's naturally glow a bright, yellow or white light when in great distress, acting as a sort of beacon for their allies to hone in on them. This light is absolutely blinding and can be detected by eyesight from planetary orbit at its maximum range.
Angelhand's is capable of flight.
Angelhand's small stature allows him to fit into places otherwise inaccessible by larger organisms.
Asklepions can live for a very long time, almost as long as Galvans.
Weaknesses: Angelhand's is not suited for any kind of combat and is quite fragile. If his wings are damaged in any way, he will be grounded and become even more helpless than before. His small size also works against him as he is only a little smaller than Ditto and thus incapable of defending himself from much larger and powerful foes.
Despite their great healing power, Asklepions cannot heal themselves. They're capable of healing other individuals, including other Asklepions, but they cannot heal their own bodies should they become injured.
Angelhands can't eradicate toxins or diseases. He can slow their progress down, allowing time for a cure to be found, but he is otherwise incapable of totally defeating them.
Angelhand's must be in contact with the person he is trying to heal otherwise it will not work. The process also takes great concentration and as little movement from the injured party as possible, lest more harm than be good be done.
Asklepions cannot resurrect the dead. As long as their 'patient' is hanging onto life by a thread, they can bring them back from near death. Once all life has left the body however, they are incapable of doing anything at all.
Etymology: Angelhand's name alludes to his angel-like appearance and the fact that a majority of his powers are done with his hands.
Trivia: The species' name derives from the Greek God of Healing, Asclepius .
The Asklepion homeworld's name is a portmanteau of Asclepius' parents, Coronis and Apollo .
The markings on Angelhand's face are reminiscent of The Red Cross.
Angelhand's design and abilities were partially inspired by the hero and character Mercy from the video game Overwatch.
Coropolla V is a planet covered with stone arches, steep cliffs, deep caves, and rock formations that seem to defy all logic and the laws of gravity. From these protrude numerous crystals of various colors with seemingly magical or supernatural qualities to them that appear to defy all manner of science. What is known about them is that they seem to naturally extend the lifespan of any organism that stays within relatively close range for extended periods of time, namely the Asklepions who make it a point to surround their entire culture and society around the crystals. While Galvan scientists refuse to accept any explanation of magical or supernatural means, they begrudgingly admit that there is a significantly notable variance in life expectancy in Asklepions that are born on other planets and those that are born on their homeworld. As of yet, no scientific explanation has been made on whether or not this actually has anything to do with the incredible number of crystals on Coropolla V.
Coropolla V seems to always be in a perpetual state of twilight where many living things and organisms seem to give off natural light of bio-luminescence. It has often been described as something one might see out of the skyscapes in No-Man's Sky and Steven Universe or the Bio-luminescent Forest from Avatar.
Asklepions live in large communal colonies of roughly a hundred individuals or so and live in large cities carved out of the rock of their homeworld from which they hang upside down like bats. They communicate in their native tongue - a series of clicks and chirps not unlike that of birds and dolphins - and use specially made echo chambers to announce very important messages to all members of the colony.
Mating requires three individuals of related subspecies to participate: a male, a female, and an asexual member who is neither of the previous two. The asexual member will take genetic samples from the other male and female members and act as a living incubation and gestation chamber until the time comes for a clutch of eggs to be laid and glued to the roof of a cavern. These string-like sacs are carefully watched over by all three members of the mating party and regularly cleaned and hydrated to prevent them from dying out before hatching a couple months later (four months on Earth).
Angelhand's is of the male subspecies and as of yet is incapable of transforming into the female and asexual subspecies.

What would a ultimate version of this form look like?

Hmm, probably a little closer to our depiction of angels in religion/pop culture. Since these guys are about the same size as Pesky Dust, they'd grow to be about a staggering 8ft tall, with four wings and lots of protrusions/feelers protruding from their body, as well as a second (or many even third) pair of eyes).
As for what their new abilities might be, they would be able to temporarily reanimate the dead by injecting the body with a finite amount of life force which, unlike before, where they generated it themselves, they steal it from other organisms.
The Ultimate forms, due to their appearance and creation, tend to involve darker and more bleak futures that usually involve millions of years of intense warfare/combat or extreme environmental changes to justify the evolutionary changes the aliens went through. In this case, the Asklepion came under intense warfare when it was discovered that the crystals that make up some 45% of the planet could prolong the natural lifespan due to them radiating a unique type of energy that stimulated cells to repair themselves rather than die off. As a result, they were extensively hunted and nearly purged from their home world before they eventually started fighting back. Since only the most powerful Asklepion's that could harm opponents with their powers survived, they were the ones that went on to create the generation. Unlike most of the Ultimate forms however, the Asklepion's would still be somewhat friendly and more than happy to help the wounded or sick, but have severe trust issues.

Well if you ever did do that I had an idea
Of how an ultimate version of that alien should have you ever seen Digimon?

The reason I asked is because there is a character called angemon and if you ever have a chance to look at this character design that is honestly how I would imagine Angelhands ultimate form would look.

Eh . . . no. These are aliens, not humans. Angemon is basically a dude who has six pairs of wings stapled to his back and a big stick he can wave around. While certain evolutionary pressures might push for a more human appearance, I want to avoid those and keep the aliens alien-looking so as to avoid essentially creating superheroes, who 98% of the time are basically humans that look humans with special powers or skills.

Awesome design and great powers, though I do have my own small idea for how his healing works. Instead of magically healing, Angelhands possess' the ability to pass on his own life force/vitality through skin contact which acts as an energy supply for the patient's own bodily functions to rapidly heal themselves. Obviously there are limits to this ability, most notably the fact that it can't heal immediately fatal wounds like decapitation. Angelhands is also limited by his own vitality, and when it runs low he risks losing consciousness. If an Asklepion pushes themselves too far they can shrivel up and turn to dust as they exhaust their powers too quickly. They can heal themselves and others of their race, though its not as effective as their species' body is designed to release the energy, not absorb it, so it would only be capable of healing minor cuts and bruises. Also, just a random thought, I imagine these guys would've been hunted down by Vladats before they went extinct.

CreaturemasterProds In reply to DragonicDoom [2018-07-22 05:28:29 +0000 UTC]
Angelhands doesn't really have any magic. He exerts a kind of energy that encourages rapid cell regeneration (think of it like Mercy's healing stick from Overwatch; it's stated to be science, not magic), so if anything, passing on his own life force/vitality is more magic than anything else.
The reason I made sure that Angelhands wouldn't be able to heal himself (but be able to heal other members of his species) is for several reasons. For starters, he's meant to be a support alien - unlike a lot of Ben's aliens, he's not meant for any kind of combat whatsoever. He's meant to stay on the sidelines and force Ben to support his allies and teammates in a battle rather than be the front liner, which helps Angelhands stick out from a cast of over fifty different aliens. This is also why he can't heal himself, as it would encourage him to be in places he really should not be - think of it like a computer technician being put on a football team as the star quarterback.
From an evolutionary stand point (as you have to remember all of Ben's aliens evolved their unique abilities as a species in order to actually survive on their respective home worlds), this encourages social behavior among them, which increases their chances of survival as a whole - it's why animals like antelope, sardines, and pigeons are almost always seen in large groups. The members of their group will either come to their aid if they're in danger, increase the chances of someone else ending up as the unlucky victim should a predator strike, or decrease the likelihood that a predator will bother attacking such a tight knit group in the first place; as a rule, predators try to use as little energy as possible and try to go for the least risky outcome, which is why they go after really young/old or injured/ill prey instead of fit and healthy prey that will more than likely put up a fight and possibly injure them in the process.

Fair enough, and its great to see a support alien for Ben rather than just them all being fighters. Plus it would be a little too strong if he could also heal himself. Either way its a great design and I can't wait for the next one!

So Angelhands is like Mercy from overwatch, but not as cool. Ok!
its still not an alien Ben has had Before! An Alien Angel....
Now I've seen everything! Which way to Alien Jesus now?

CreaturemasterProds In reply to SuperVegiten [2017-06-24 16:35:54 +0000 UTC]
I wouldn't say he's not as cool. I mean, Mercy's only purpose is to just go around, heal people, constantly be abused by their team mates, and forever chased by Genjis desperate for a healing they clearly don't need. Then again, the one that she has going for her is that her pistol whip hits like a truck . . . I've been on the wrong end of that thing when she hasn't been pulling the trigger and believe me, it hurts.

I mean, you aren't wrong, I know it hurts like hell. Just leave yourself alone with Kevin 11 on the Molly and shit happens!
But Mercy is pretty much someone in the game who can Revive you FROM DEATH! The Alien Angel can heal but can't do squat when it comes to resurrection!
You are Half Right and I'm Half Wrong. Its an Even argument!
And it shall be said, Angelhands can't resurrect people like Mercy can.

Well, yeah, otherwise he would be OP as s***, like another certain alien.
My brother and I were discussing the most terrifying ultimate sounds in Overwatch and we both agreed that there is nothing more terrifying than hearing "Heroes never Die!" after you've just barely managed to kill everyone but the Mercy on the enemy team while just barely surviving at half health. And you're stuck in a corner with the corpses of the enemy team around you. And the first thing they do when they're fully resurrected is unleash every last one of their ultimates on you. And the rest of your team is either dead or half way across the map doing nothing progressive.
And you realize that that every member of the enemy team isn't wearing a condom as they f*** you in every conceivable orfice while eating a bowl of nails for breakfast, lunch, and dinner . . . without any milk.
And you realize that Mercy is simply standing by and watching all of this with the most horrifying grin on her face.
