It was a great episode and start to the new season. I am excited to see where the map will lead Twilight and her friends to. I am also curious as to how Discord will fit into things

Steven Universe is also for little kids and it's deeper than overdone repetetive messages. If we stop expecting more then we are allowing low quality stuff to happen

I said My Little Pony in particular, not children's entertainment at large. Steven Universe is a good show that touches on some interesting themes, although I think some people do have a tendency to exaggerate just how unique that show is.

They don't depend on "cute" or "sexy" look to gain viewers attention like ponies have with moe appearance
That's some more original concepts than just "strong female leads" that are present in MLP. And SU characters have more personality traits than "this one is shy" this one "want to be cool" etc

Just wanted to point out that the show is more unique than MLP is. I think Faust would made this show better just like Rebeca Sugar with SU.
Now is just some good episodes of MLP in an ocean of crap. And good episodes only come from messages taken from other sources like this premiere. Bravo for a more mature theme but is still not really anything groundbreaking. The most brave thing they made so far is implication of AJ parents being dead and Lyra/Bon relationship in Rainbow Rocks

I enjoyed this episode a lot. It was fun seeing what they did with the village and the Mane Six's reactions to it (Fluttershy's was my favorite, since you don't often see someone like places like this but don't want to immediately convert to it). I hope to see more of Starlight Glimmer in the upcoming season!

I give it an A too. A very solid episode that's not only good but dark at times and I feel with Season 5's theme regarding cutie marks and destiny, it's the start of a long journey.
