-Hi Claire! You know how it is, on the move most of the time…and best not to be seen too much around here anyways. As you well know… So how’s it going for you, old gal?
-Things have been pretty calm here since that little rodeo show you gave to entertain the neighborhood. Are you still doing runs these days?
-Got a couple commissions, yeah. Had to pay for repairs on the bike. But I’ve been thinking about hanging up my gloves. I’m not getting any younger, you know. And that last time was one fucking big scare…Without you, I’d be history, m’lady. I don’t know how I’ll ever repay you for dragging me behind that wall and telling the other clowns what they wanted to hear…
-See, there may just be a way for you to get even. I could need some help along your alley. Don’t have the kind of money you guys charge, though.
-I owe you big for covering my back that day, Claire. You know that. So tell me what’s bothering you, and I’ll see what I can do.
-Well, when I told you nothing much happened around here lately, that wasn’t completely true…’
The Runner listened to Claire very intently as she gave him a brief rundown of Destiny’s tale. He really wasn’t such an old man, she guessed, taking in the wiry muscular frame and the sharp features. In his early forties, probably. But he looked emotionally exhausted. Zigzagging back and forth across the wall for two years and putting his life on the line with every new trip had taken its toll.
‘So… Someone’s been playing guardian angel again, I see. Except you got yourself a damsel in distress this time…
-Look, C.A., I’m a very open-minded person, you know that. If I can grab a scrawny runner’s ass to get him out of trouble, why shouldn’t I pick up a naked young beauty when I have a chance? But seriously…
-Seriously, your protégée needs to get out of here, no doubt about that. And there’s no way she’ll make it without an escort.
-That’s what I figured. And I thought maybe…
-Maybe Crafty Andy could be coaxed into bringing the news to the Freedom Fighters across the border… and possibly convince them to send someone over…

-Lady Claire, aside from the fact that you saved my ass, I just happen to like you. And I was looking for a valid reason to do one last run before retiring. Seems I've found it…’
