Description
Wha-? enchan made a tutorial? You better believe it! I spent all day on it
For those of you who have asked me how it's done, I present to you the step-by-step manga tutorial~~~!
It's very unprofessional...T___T I'm sorry...I do hope it helps though.
And that tachikiri guide I tell you I'll provide here is here-> [link]
Full view to see the tutorial....It's huuuuge O_O Gomenne~~T^T
The mini comic features my characters from the webcomic MAJESTY -> [link]
I know it doesn't make sense...but I had to come up with something fast enough for the tutorial. (It might make sense if you know the characters
Good Luck~! And enjoy!
Required Tools: The media shown in the first step of the tutorial, Photoshop 5 or higher and ComicWorks.
EDIT: Thanks everyone for all the favs! I'm happy you found this helpful in some sorta way XD;; I edited my site address in the description...and maybe one day I'll fix the address on the tutorial---but it is wrong XD....Remember~~~>enchantma.com!
ANOTHER EDIT: Okay, so the Tachikiri guide isn't working...Nevermind that. Every publishing company has it's own guides anyway but the standard is that the page dimensions should follow a 2:3 ratio.
MORE EDIT: Thank you, for bringing this to my attention but you can find the Tokyopop template if you Google "mechspec5"...She says, "The second link, a pdf file, has the template at the bottom of it"
Now please stop asking me where it is XD;;
FINAL EDIT (I hope): I HAVE A NEW TUTORIAL THAT SHOULD ANSWER WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. Please check it out BEFORE asking questions. Thanks!

You know, I hate to say it but your link for the Tachikiri guide apparently does not exist any more. I hate to bother you again but could you fix that? I really need it, unfortunately. But if you cannot I understand, I'll just have to try something else out

i have a question (not about the tutorial. its very understandable) but, i have been tryinb to make a manga for a while now, and i dont know where to put the boxes. the ones that have the pics in it. i just dont know where to put them or how many of them there should be. how did you find out where and what to do with them?

depends on what kind of story you're telling and how you want to tell it. i recommend checking out books on how to write comics with chapters that focus on how to do panels. panels don't come with rules...creating layouts for panels is where you have to step in as an artist and make these decisions. look at comics of a variety of artists and art styles and genres and study how each artist chose to set up each page and how many panels they used to tell a story. there are people who will cram up to 12 panels on ONE page, and will use the whole page itself as a panel. there's no pattern, unless you want there to be. it's totally up to you, but don't use paneling randomly---there's an art to it. you have to plan that out and think it through.
good luck!

you can use whatever you'd like, but barbie is not as proportioned and bendable as these models...use whatever works for you~

I was wondering about putting in the tones. Does comicworkds place them for you easily. Cause in photoshop if I use the magic want it always leaves a one pixel white space around everything so I use the polygon lasso which takes forevor. I just wasn't sure if the selection tool in comicworks worked better or what. Please message me with the answer if you can.

enchantma In reply to GaiaDarkstar [2009-04-17 01:31:28 +0000 UTC]
Comicworks has a lasso tool also. You just have to work with that and be patient (:
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
GaiaDarkstar In reply to enchantma [2009-04-17 14:05:43 +0000 UTC]
Well if it works the same as the polygon lasso than what is the advantage in using comicworks rather than just photoshop? If it isn't the polygon lasso type wouldn't it be a lot harder to stay on the lines? I am just curious about other programs and if they are easier to work with than photoshop.

enchantma In reply to GaiaDarkstar [2009-04-17 20:58:01 +0000 UTC]
comicworks is just more convenient because it comes with its own tones at a really high resolution as where you don't have that advantage with photoshop (unless you can find a site that has high res tones). and all you do is select the area you want to tone with the lasso tool, click the tone you want and it fills it in for you. it just saves you a couple of extra steps you'd take in photoshop (you can compare the programs in my 2nd manga tutorial: [link] )
