Question: so when using Coptic markers, can u jus color EEVerything with it? U remember when u were younger and u would only use it for outlining, but now that ur using card stock and "special" markers, u can just color absolutely EVERYTHING INSIDE the lines?? Note me in response pleez! Thnk u, ur very talented!

I'm a noob when it comes to Manga, so I have a question. Where do you buy blue mechanical pencil lead?

megami-mizuno [2012-03-02 00:45:38 +0000 UTC]
...0.o There's a good few tools in there I never thought of using, that's for sure. Must say I never knew mechanical pencil lead came in different colors. Yay! A good excuse to stop by staples! Lucky me dad still has some metal rulers around that he used for drafting; means I don't have to spend money on a ruler. Though the one I'm using now is wood with a sliver of metal along the edge. Big. fat. pain. in. the. butt. If I angle my pen just wrong, it messes up my line completely. @.@ That white paint pen is a must have for future projects, though...
Oh, you were talking about precision erasers, but have you ever considered trying a kneaded rubber eraser? I find that they're really good for small or fine details, since you can remold them to whatever shape you need. You can also lighten a line without erasing it completely, which I find handy. Your tutorial is great, though~ Makes me wanna put some comic pages into my light novel. >.<

You can be allergic to that stuff? Well crud xD
To be fair, the scented perfumed ones that smell like butt give me a rash (probably perfume allergies), I usually just use the plain alcohol one lol...
Long live allergies! xD

Hand sanitizer is very clever! I have that problem when i paint and am always running to the bathroom sink. But i gotta wash out my brushes/cup so i guess i still can't avoid it entirely xD

Pffft paint... ;-;
I know what you mean. I have this big plastic container/bowl with water in it for cleaning brushes, and some crappy old towel with paper towels around so I can not get up as often, but sometimes I have to change the water anyways... lol
Paint="no you will not sit down for hours, get up and clean me!"

ayeshoo123 [2011-09-24 10:50:17 +0000 UTC]
Um, could I please ask you a question? When you go to a shopkeeper, what should I ask for when I ask for the card-like paper? Sketchbook paper? Chart-board paper? And also, is the lead pencil called something in particular?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kita-Angel In reply to ayeshoo123 [2011-12-19 17:49:58 +0000 UTC]
Sorry for the late reply!
To be honest, you can ask for card stock. If you go to like Staples or some paper place, they will know what it is. If they don't tell them it's paper, but card-like, or thicker. But most people in paper places know what card stock is!
The blue lead is simply blue lead, if they don't have blue lead, ask if they have blue pencils (like in graphic design) the blue pencils, not lead, are called Col-Erase, and they do the same thing as the lead alone. They erase pretty well too!

Thank you so much for this. I'm literally taking notes before I move on to the next part.
Does cardstock bend & curl up? Like with the markers getting it wet?
Hand sanitizer= awesome idea. I also need to go get me a good ruler before my bro stops trusting me with his.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kita-Angel In reply to cocoajaee [2011-12-19 17:45:15 +0000 UTC]
Sorry for the late reply! And so glad you find this helpful!
Cardstock will bend and curl if using water based markers, or like paints. If you use alcohol based makers, like Prismacolor and Copic, then it won't curl! I find the markers bleed through less on carstock than on normal paper where I would find stuff under the sheet all the time!
Hand sanitizer = best ever!
Acrylic or metal rulers don't break as much as plastic/wood!
