Description A revisit of one of my most favorite paintings from last year. The original was done in November 2012...tried to apply as much of what I have learned over the past few month as possible to give it a decent face lift. I hope looks good.

Wow, what a difference the few minor changes made in this update.

I have to agree with the other previous comments here- I think the brightening of the dragon's fire, as well as the reflective highlights/details of both the knight's armor and sword really make a marked improvement to this piece. I also like the added enhancement to his cloak.

Just out of curiosity, did you also darken the feature's of the dragon's face in order to emphasize the brilliance of the fire coming out of its mouth?

Kudos to you! for first creating and then improving on this excellent piece.

Thank you very much for the compliment! I darkened the dragons features to make the both the knight and dragon stand out against the flame...however, my actual intent was to make the dragon seem much father away. I am really happy with the outcome especially since this was alll 100% imagination, however I felt/feel the painting is still somewhat 2 dimensional and doesn't really invoke the level I am hoping to eventually achieve.

I made a request last night for an artist to critique/paint over it in his livestream and it looked so amazing with bounced light, rim lighting, more shadows etc. He promised to send me the PS file so I can take a look at his technique and how he accomplished making the painting so much better in less than 20 mins

Once again, thank you for the comment! I appreciate the kind words!

Wow, how awesome is that? That really was so very cool of that artist to help you out like that.

Do you also like to read books on art? If so, I just recently bought a really cool book 'Color and Light' written and illustrated by James Gurney that pretty much covers all that you just mentioned.

Yea it was very cool and he did send me the Photoshop file which was very awesome of him! You should check his page out here

I usually read stuff online or on tutorials on DA, but I think I might actually pick up the book you mentioned. The reviews are great and the content focuses on an area I am severely lacking in. Thanks a lot for suggesting it!

Nice paladin, but doesn't he fear about burning his long hair?
In my opinion the sword, eyes and the claws of dragon looks better now (sword especially). For sure armour is now more shiny and dragon's scales looks less like crocodile's (older version was more green).
And it looks more epic of course

Thanks a lot for the kind words!! I appreciate you taking the time to comment on the painting

The valiant knight has several wards to protect him from dragon breath...and he also uses a fantasy panteen pro-V that I heard is fire resistant

No problem, you're welcome!
Fire resistance! Huh, I didn't think about that...

This one looks much better than the last version.
The firebreath looks more authentic, because it's brighter.
The dragon's face looks great too with the new light effects.
Good job!
