Description
No one with a formal education in biology or psychology identifies as "otherkin".ΒNeither does anyone with a formal college/university education, for that matter.
Make what you will of it.

Then, like I said, prove it. There are no successful or reputable otherkin. No otherkin has a formal education in any form of science. Prove me wrong.

I can prove my statement in a number of ways.
First, no one is actually an "otherkin". It goes against all sciences, which is why no individual educated past high school claims to be an "otherkin".
It's a delusional mental disorder, one people get so wrapped up in that they can't lead successful lives. No one wants to hire the guy who thinks he's Gandalf.
It's no different than the people who think they're Jesus or some shit.
If a successful "otherkin" existed, there would be proof somewhere. But there isn't. I am a university student, and there are no "otherkin" on campus. Sorry.

"It's a delusional mental disorder,"
OK I really don't think it's that. It really just seems to be something teenagers want to identify as in order to seem edgy or unique among their peers instead of, y'know, working for that uniqueness.

Yeah, that would be the case for most of them. Although, there are people who do legitimately believe they're animals, and in that case, it isΒ a mental disorder.

I find it funny who you act like you know more about this subject than he does, but when he asks you a question about which otherkin is successful, you one: can't give him an example and two: pull the "I shouldn't have to" card, and then when he shows evidence you act like he knows nothing, when he clearly knows more than you.

I find it funny how they claim they have more education than you about otherkin and genders and such and how there must be a successful otherkin somewhere, and when you ask who, they can't even give you one. And then they say "it proves that you know nothing on otherkin lifestyle" even though they must not either since they can't even back up their claim.

wow!Β so you know every otherkin on the planet!Β arrogant ass!
I am a smart person that believes in science.Β I don't know why I'm like this nor do I care.Β I just know how I feel inside, I can'tΒ describe it.Β yeah I'm most likely just crazyΒ but dose it really matter?Β acting like a wild animal ever now and then helps my live a normal life when I have to.Β it is not like what I do with my free time effects you.

Where did I say you couldn't be an "otherkin", hm? I merely presented the facts, so like I said: "Make what you will of it".
Prove me wrong.

Apparently I am not reputable, good to know. I don't see why what I identify with spiritually should define your opinion of me and all others like me but you're free to believe whatever you choose. I do wish people would really get to know a few otherkin before condemning us all, it seems like such a waste of time to bash a community who's members never did anything to earn your disrespect.

Are you a psychologist or biologist? If not, no, you're not reputable. GTFO and get an education.
I am not bashing you. I have yet to even state my opinion-- this stamp is a statement of fact. Hence the "Make what you will of it".

Reputable is defined as having a good reputation, i don't see how my personal identity has anything to do with my reputation. I also don't see how you can claim that the whole otherkin community is not reputable given how many of us there are and the fact that you can not possibly have studied each of us and our jobs or how others think of us. For the record I have the standard education for someone of my age and mental capacity, so suggesting that IβGTFO and get an education" really is not necessary I do apologize for assuming you were bashing us if that was not your intent, however the way you phrased your comment seemed to imply an insult, apologies if I was mistaken.

Apology accepted.
The meaning of "reputable" differs by context. I don't mean your reputation as a whole, rather, your reputation within the scientific community. Alternate definitions include "trustworthy". Would you trust your neighbor more than your doctor when it comes to a medical diagnosis? No? So why trust in the existence of the state of being an "otherkin" when there are no scientists that support it?
Feel free to prove me wrong.

Eirnn In reply to ExplosiveSquid [2014-06-29 07:38:02 +0000 UTC]
Ah, thank you for explaining the context, i misunderstood. I cannot prove that my soul is truly non-human, and I know that the burden of proof lies with me which is why I am not asking you to conform to my beliefs, however I will point out that otherkin is generally considered someone who identifies as a non-human, and while I can't explain in scientific terms why I identify as such I can tell you (feel free to not believe me, i can't let you in my head to see this) that I truly do not identify as.a human either mentally or spiritually

I do believe that you feel that way, though I do not believe that your beliefs are correct. They're delusions as the result of some sort of mental damage or trauma.

Eirnn In reply to ExplosiveSquid [2014-06-29 15:17:26 +0000 UTC]
Well, i suppose that you could be correct, i don't personally feel I've suffered any mental trauma but i know some 'kin have awakened due to stress and trauma. I should ask right now if it's not offensive to you, do you believe in any religion? Just asking because so far the people i know who seem most opposed to a belief in otherkin are either atheists or Christians, many other belief systems have an easier time relating to us due to having a belief in either reincarnation or shamanism.
