Besides, the otherkin community isn't a large part of the population at all-- wait, shouldn't you be surveying otherkin to see if they have formal education in those things, rather than surveying university professors to see if they're otherkin? I mean, if you want to prove a group doesn't have a certain thing, it seems like you should sample from that group and not from the whole set of things with that characteristic

We're discussing academic reputability, not "are they trustworthy enough to pay you back" or something. Intelligence is key here, not overall trustworthiness.Β
Anyway, I can see why you would think that, but a survey of that nature would be counter-productive, and would not offer any better results. The results would be nearly identical in either case:
- Ask 100 000 otherkin if they are academically reputable.
- Ask 100 000 academically reputable individuals if they are otherkin.
In either event, you're checking the same type of result. If you disagree with these results, by all means, carry out your own survey and see if the outcome differs. I'd be interested in seeing it.

So you truly believe that you're a wild animal in the body of a human? You believe that that's actually possible? If so, you need to start paying attention in your biology classes. Just being present doesn't make you "educated".
No, a person cannot be "valid" or "invalid" (unless you mean disabled, in which case, yes, they are all invalid). However, their ideasΒ can be. The amount of first-hand research you would have to take part in to be on par with an educated individual is far beyond what one is able to accomplish in one's lifespan. The point of education is to transfer ideas to the minds of others without having to repeat the research process (which can take several generations, especially since science is always evolving).

Way to assume.
I have the belief of the infinite universe theory and a form of reincarnation, tied with the spiritual belief of astral projection and trapped spirits, but i hold it as a belief, and not something that i will claim to be 100% fact. My otherkinism is separate from my biological study, so yes, I am paying attention if it makes you happy. In it's core, otherkin is inherently a spiritual belief and is not someone who claims to be an actual animal and insists that they are so, or was actually supposed to be an animal but ended up with an animals brain and a Β human body and wants to "transition", because never is it possible in any way to have two humans have other animals genes in their children, unlike transgender which the male and female genes can be mixed up because of sexual dimorphism

You're right in that some don't see themselves in that way, but many of them do; it depends on the person.* Now, there is a difference between relating to a certain animal symbolically, and spiritually. You're right, the spiritual side of things are largely religious in nature, and almost-entirely based in faith. Let's be honest here, you're trying to use buzzwords to make your beliefs sound thought-out. That's where the problem lies: they're not. Anyone who would believe such nonsense (that is, that animal spirits exist and can be intertwined with those of other species) is on par with Illuminati conspiracy theorists. Believing in such things is hardly "educated".
In any case, you can consider yourself an exception if you'd like. I'm not convinced, but as long as your delusions make you happy, go for it.
