Description Made with the image drawn for Kitten on RagnaInfo.net, one of the winners of my auction, which is a very long and complicated story but anyways.

I was asked to take in progress photos of my marker work and I decided to just make a tutorial out of the photos. This is the first tutorial I've made like this for deviantART and it took a full 4 hours to put together, so I hope people like it and I would love to have some feedback. The image is of Kitten's huntress Kari Evelyn.

Hey! Wanted to thank you for such an awesome tutorial here. I recently bought some copics at a local convention, and have been working on figuring out the little intricacies of using them. Seeing your tutorial here is a very welcome change from all the freaking photoshop tutorials. ^^

Thanks again!

This is an amazing tutorial, thanks. (Haha, you should make more when you are bored )
I've never been really that confident in copic markers, though I have a bunch I haven't used in a while that I got from my artistic friends. But I think I'll pick it up again.. (With this tutorial for reference, of course!>o<

If you have the time to answer my question, I was wondering how you avoid making mistakes when you ink. XD I've been inking a lot with my Sakura Microns but I somehow keep making stray lines that bothers me to the point of me tossing the picture! (Because white-out does nothing to hide this, woe is me.) Do you have any advice, possibly? >_>

whee~~
that's a really nice tutorial, thank you!
and it gives me a...well... better way to use the blender... I'll try that, 'cuz it for a change sounds like it works! XD (and looks like it, too *_* fantastic artwork)
I think you can ask 3 ppl and you get AT LEAST 3 different ways to use that mystery-copic 0 U_u
ranging from using it to draw over already existing colour (which sucks...though sometime works, depending on the paper) to sucking up colour from other markers with it (which sucks even more, or I'm just too damn dumb to use it properly ^^*)
so...well yeah... THANK YOU!

Do you think this would have the same effect with prisma markers???

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

finni In reply to FullMoonSyndrome [2006-08-28 03:20:23 +0000 UTC]

Hmm I don't think so. I also own Prisma markers and when I use them, it's difficult to get a brushy or light effect. The blending with two colors using the colorless blender on the bottom works with Prisma but because the tip is more like a marker whereas Copic markers have a tip that's like a brush... I think that's the main difference.

You could try tough!! Prismas are awesome at getting large areas of smooth color.

Funny that people keep asking; the colorless blender is actually the name of a color of Copic marker! The number for it is 0 and you can find it anywhere that sells Copic markers.

Glad you liked the tutorial~

(I just realized the way I said that might have sounded like I thought you weren't good at all before. XD;; That's not what I meant! T_T) Anyway.. When I look at your stuff now, it just seems like you're doing things a lot more naturally. Like, the way you draw faces. And you've definitely gotten a knack for your pretty coloring technique. ;o;

Don't worry about it. XD I still have to finish your YoruSoi. : x I have to hurry before you move too. @___@;;;;

Very nice and helpful..! I've never really worked with copics much, since I don't actually own any. XP But sometimes I get a chance to dabble with a friend's and this is very intriguing! I'm particularly interested in how you use the blender, since generally I had no idea what I was doing when I messed with it. Thankyou for your wonderful tutorial! It looks great!

Not only do I admire your patience for putting a tutorial together, but YOUR MARKER WORK IS ALWAYSSOPRETTY. ;____; Seriously, every time I see it I want to buy copics--but then I remember how poor I am ; Haha, I'm so lame, I saw an entire rack of copics for the first time in my wee life at Hobby Lobby and I instantly coveted!! T__T They look like a lot of fun. I can't imagine working with markers without making a bajillion mistakes, but the day I try it out, I'll definitely be looking to this tutorial. >:3 Great job, Finni-butt!

If you think you'll be using them more than once, then I say go for it if you have the funds! Otherwise it's a waste of money cos damn, the markers are expensive! ToT

I personally think it's lots of fun, so if you want my opinion: it's yes, do try it out. :'D
