Description
Made with the image drawn for Kitten on RagnaInfo.net, one of the winners of my auction, which is a very long and complicated story but anyways.I was asked to take in progress photos of my marker work and I decided to just make a tutorial out of the photos. This is the first tutorial I've made like this for deviantART and it took a full 4 hours to put together, so I hope people like it and I would love to have some feedback. The image is of Kitten's huntress Kari Evelyn.

That was very fun to read.
I don't know if I will attempt to color this way any time soon but I am very tempted! Perhaps if my friends have pens and paper I can borrow. XD
Lovely job on the art and the tutorial. =]

hehe being the lazy person I am, I use printing paper anyways :'D
But yeah marker paper is much nicer to use, and not to mention it makes things blend so much more nicely without even using the colourless blender >o<
Hmm I would say if copic is more expensive, go for deleter, the papers cheaper and still works pretty well ^_^

It's actually easier for me to get Copic stuff than Deleter; there's just like... no stores that carry Deleter stuff. o__o I've seen what Ippus did with Deleter pens and it's like UGH NOT FAIR AND IT'S CHEAPER THAN COPIC! But if I buy, it has to be online and I have to pay an icky 9.95 for shipping. Sigh.
(In other words, good to hear from you omg! Hope school hasn't been killing you~)

I love your vocabulary choice! Boobshine!!! XD hahahha!
Why does your tutorial look so fancy and pretty? *___* It makes my in-progress tutorial look like crap..and unpretty :<.
Although I have never used a copic marker, your tutorial seems to be pretty thorough and detailed in explanations.
Where the heck do people get copic markers anyway? I searched at Michael's and Aaron Brothers but they don't seem to have any (or maybe I'm blind). I'll use my upcoming bday as an excuse to get some X) muahaha.

Kinokuniya~ Do you know where the Mitsuwa market is? It's across the plaza there. They have a hugeass rack of Copics! Though I'd rather wait until conventions to buy my copics cos their markers are super super exensive and I only buy in case of emergencies. At conventions they have discounts and stuff. :'D
I bet your in progress tutorial does NOT look crappy and unpretty wtf. X(!!! Please remember how much YOUNGER YOU ARE THAN ME and already good enough to teach other people~ *cries in an emo little corner*

Ooh the manga store! They sell copics there? O__o Never seen a hugeass rack of copics for all the times I've been there. Figures that they're expensive. Japanese store=expensive ;o;.
I read through what I have on my tutorial and most of it is so confusing it probably makes no sense to the average person x.x. I haven't gone through the trouble of decorating it yet either, but it's not gonna be as good looking as yours . Teaching is one of my weak points..I suck at explaining things.

My white pen is like... uhh lemme check. It's like the Gelly Roll things from the same company that makes Microns, an opaque ink and yes it covers black marker. XD

You can see my pen in the last photo on the bottom right corner, to the right of that reddish-purple looking marker. :'D Any white pen should work so long as it's opaque, otherwise it won't go over the marker colors~ :<
I know *021 uses this kind of... paint thing. o__o and it's really cool to see her in action cos she's got the brush and water and everything hahahahah.

great tutorial! I don't have copic markers, though. I just have prismacolors, & those bleed like crazy. XD one day, I'll buy some copic markers. anyways, I'd really like to see a photoshop tutorial something, but I know this one took you a while to put together. so, I'm not demanding or photoshop tutorial or anything- just a wish.

This is, without doubt, the most useful tutorial I have ever encountered. Clear, concise, and good pictures.
But wow, all this time I've been trying to use the colourless blender *after* I put the other colours down, and then wondering why everything smudged. I feel like such a dork.

I love how you done your drawings with copic, I have some but don't really know how to use it... (such a waste... >
Question! Question! *raise hand* The colorless blender, is that copic too? What number? And if it isn't, what is it?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
finni In reply to Bayou-Kun [2006-08-14 02:27:49 +0000 UTC]
The colorless blender is number 0, and yes it's a copic marker. I also use the Prismacolor colorless blender because it's cheaper and I don't feel quite as bad wasting that ink. (Plus I got two colorless blenders free in the 24pack of Prismas my friends bought me. XD)
I'd love to see anyone's drawings that this tutorial helped!

This has got to have been the most useful thing ever. Forget CG tutorials, learning information about traditional media is where it's at! I don't even use markers (use watercolors) and this was very informative! The layout was especially nice because I am just so sick of tutorials that just kind of through thins in a random order all over the page. You have gone above and beyond your call with this. Bravo!
