Description
Reverse MacroSome people have never even heard about this technique. Others know what it is, but don't know how to do it. I made this tutorial this afternoon in hopes to answer any questions.
Hope it helps!
[edit]
For maximum magnification, use your minimum focal length (i.e. 18mm, if your lens is 18-55mm). Incredible results!
You can also pick up something called a "reversin ring" to make shooting a whole lot easier! Basically a filter that screws onto the end of your lens and allows you to mount it to your camera body [link] Super cheap and it makes things much easier

You can also buy a reverse lens attachment for about 16$ total off Amazon. ^^ Though that aperture setting is new to me, thanks!

I've never heard of this technique before and yet love macro photography, but always thought macro lenses were too expensive. I think I'm going to have to try this. Thanks!

A very useful tutorial! This is sooo challenging though. I can't get my hands to hold the camera still enough to get a clear shot! gah!

oh RIGHT! brilliant, this was a life saver. i was so disappointed when i tried to reverse my lens, it didn't click in and i thought the camera just wasn't able to do it, but now i understand. you must need a really steady hand
and a static object to work with. this is great, thank you so much xx

D: well now i know how i can see through it, theres a lever on the lens that you have to hold yourself that opens the aperture or something like that. then i couldnt take the photo, and my friend told me that the camera has to be set to manual. the lens, and on the body.
hope that helped, i haven't tried it yet (:

I'm not sure, there seems to be an issue with Nikon cameras... they don't seem to allow it

Hmm... maybe you can't do it with Sony? I'm not sure. Make sure you're not in auto, I hear that causes problems. I usually set mine to manual focus in aperture priority.

Nope don't have that I think. Although I tried setting f to 8 before removing the lens, and the results were pretty good I think, the 4 latest pics in my gallery are using that, or it might just be cuz the flash was on. In any case, its still an awesome technique
