Description The legend, Stan Lee, has passed today. I decided to give him a personalized farewell. I realize that there is only an EXTREMELY small niche that will understand what's going on here but... I'll help you out. The man in brown is Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek who passed away in the early 90's. Just as much as any work by Stan Lee effected me, so has Star Trek.

And no, that's not the Enterprise. In Star Trek there was a vessel... the USS Excelsior. If Gene were picking him up, you know that would be the ship he used.

If nothing else, I'm glad you have something to Honor the man who was a large inspiration for many of us, I hope I can do good enough in my own way with my own work's, I post them on a site you might have heard of, www.Fanfction.com, and well I'm trying my best with what I have, I have to say general-sci, you kinda gave me a little to think about in how my own hero's power's and such would work, while I've had it LONG before I came across Deviantart, looking at thing's like your Grafted series did help make the image a bit more clearer. So yeah, R.I.P Stan Lee, may you be at peace wherever you are, and hope that people like us can do well to Honor the memories of yourself as well as the other great's of your year's! Let's do good for them everyone! WHO IS WITH ME ON THIS HUH!

Okay first off. WOW! I did NOT expect to get a response from YOU of all people who would read this comment (Though to be honest, since it's your work I'm commenting one I should have seen it coming) but even more so, I'm glad you think my idea is worth doing, when I get a basic idea of how I want it to look like on paper as it where, I'll show it to you and ask for your take on it all. Right now it's just an O.C. or two, butI want it to be worthy of notice by those who look for talent. Now I don't want to bring Politic's into this, but long story short, when I write a story or character. I focus on how to make them feel human, I don't give a damn about if they are Gay, Black, White, Trans, or whatever, I don't look at people and think anything much of them, if they treat me well and don't act like a dick, then I'll treat them the same, if they act like I'm the worst thing ever and say that I should die, or act like total asshole's, they ain't gonna get much out of me. If they try to hurt me I'll defend myself in whatever way I feel is best suited. Point is, I don't take any shit from ANYONE, and if someone tell's me my idea ain't worth it because I don't have 'X,Y, or Z' being a major part if not the MAIN THING of the story, then I'll tell them to F-off and tell them they don't know what real talent is like! I'm trying to brag when I can say I can do LOAD'S Better than all of the 'Pros' over at Marvel Comic's right now. I only write what I feel fit's in the story I'm trying to make, if it don't have Politic's, then SUCK IT UP AND DEAL WITH IT! But anyhow I'm glad your interested all the same General-Sci! Your work helped me file down some of the hard to place point's behind my idea, sadly I don't have the mean's to pay for a commision, but if don't mind just trying to make something and see if it fit's with what I'm going for then I'm all ear's!

It's okay, I'm not open for taking commissions at the moment anyway. lol.

You do you. Write what you feel like and write from the heart. For a very long time, I was a solo act on my own story idea. I was lucky to find other like-minded people for the first three issues of Grafted. While the collaboration didn't last for as long as I might have wanted, it was enough to get into orbit. All of us need a friendly push every now and again.

Just be open for the constructive criticism we all inevitably receive, however. It may hurt, and it may come off as personal (It's a personal work that will be getting the crits, after all), but be discerning and take the ideas that are worthwhile and table the ones that don't fit your premise. It should go a long way towards making your work better than you thought it could be.

Since this piece does feature Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek, I'll leave you with this quote from him, "Star Trek was an attempt to say that humanity will reach maturity and wisdom on the day that it begins not just to tolerate, but take a special delight in differences in ideas and differences in life forms. […] If we cannot learn to actually enjoy those small differences, to take a positive delight in those small differences between our own kind, here on this planet, then we do not deserve to go out into space and meet the diversity that is almost certainly out there.”

Sound advice that I will do my best to follow, and A good quote to go along with it. I will make sure to do what I can, and take what constructive criticism I get (I'm a rather Hard Critic myself when it come's to what I see, but I don't follow the masses in mindset, I do my own thing and that is that.) And I'll make sure to focus on what I can learn from it all, but I have to admit it's going to take a while before I get noticed by enough people to have any real attention on what I am doing, but I take it all in stride, and move along with it the best I can. I hope the best of luck with your story and that I can do good on my own, and who know's? Perhaps one day there will come a time where I get to have my O.C.'s to be part of an art piece that has the like of your Grafted alongside them, even if it's just them standing side-by-side. I know that for what it's worth, I'd be okay with it! So yeah, good luck to you on your work, and let's do the best we can and then some!
