Description
I was searching through *jademacalla 's gallery for some stock for an upcoming gift piece (shh!), when I stumbled across this . I got an idea, started sketching, and 25 minutes later this came out. I kinda liked it, so I uploaded it here.Maybe once I have kids, I'll paint this on their bedroom walls and tell 'em that's what comes for them when they don't eat their veggies.
HB pencil on Strathmore 400 Drawing Paper. 25 minutes total.
*EDIT* I'm planning to re-do this one as an acrylic painting for my final project (open assignment) in my summer painting class.

Thanks for the fave, which reminds me, I have the painted version almost done. I need to finish it and post it up here.

The one is kick ass but the buildings look a bit off but not to much. Also you should look up pictures of mountain climbers to see how they look when it comes to climbing up things.
This fellow doesn't look like he's holding on tight enough and would fall.

Alright, I'll try to keep that in mind. Better reference definitely would have helped, since the stock I was working from was of a guy hanging, not climbing. Thanks for your thoughts.

You know DA is a gold mine for stock images to use as reference. That's another reason why I like it here so much.

This would make a rocking painting.
What kind of mood are you going to give it, dark/night kind of thing?
The perspective is really nice in this.
Good luck making it in acrylic.

I liked the personal changes you gave to the figure. (It would look pretty awkward to use the original pose.)
I especially like the amount of detail you put into the buildings. The intense amount of perspective gives the background character.
Do you normally use stock images to create ideas of drawings?

Not usually, but I gave this one a try.

I think I might try using stock images one of these days. Whenever I try to make up a pose in my head, it never comes out the way I want to. (Well, there's an obvious reason for that, but using stock is much easier :B)

XD I was talking about the telling them that he was going to get them if they don't eat their veggies, it's funny.

I like how the torso looks, very realistic. I'm thinking you could add more details to the head (esp. muzzle) to make it look more feasible, but if you want to go for a more cartoony approach you it works very well like that.
I'm loving the perspective by the way!
for Mongo!

OOh, I like this a lot. Reminds me of De Gilde (I have no idea if it's been translated, I grabbed it while in the Netherlands) Has that same sort of very dynamic layout.

That will scare them into doing their chores and stuff.
You did an awesome job on the buildings.

He looks very athletic - all the gnolls I've fought have been hunchbacked little creeps. It actually helps him look more worrying, somehow, as if he's some sort of hyper-elite gnoll...
Nice perspective and background. For some reason I can't shake the idea that he's on his way to stake a vampire in the room above... It's just got that kinda vibe to it.

Actually this fellow's the good guy; I don't know who he's about to dispatch but I'm sure the city would be better for it.

Glad you liked the avatar. Don't think too many folks notice it. I toned it down a bunch.. I'd originally made it blink and move back and forth too much... but I like how this turned out better. (Wiping off the sugar-free cheesecake from the keyboard)
