Exceptionally smooth blending of colours in the back

I really hate to parrot everyone else, but the colors look great, especially in the back. Definitely one of your best paintings.

I really like the colors you chose for this. The really give it bite. I also like the halo of lighter colors around the demon's head and the fade from fire warm colors to dark gray. The colors are so rich. Do you get that mostly through layers of color (since watercolors are transparent) or do you pick a more saturated (I think that's the right word, for example do you load up cadmium yellow dark when you wanted a more cadmium med) color than you need and let the white of the paper lighten it up?

Usually I start with a base colour, then layer other colours over it until I get the depth I'm looking for.

Good color choices. Perhaps more detailing and heavier shadows on the physical being would define the difference between the solid and the ethereal.

Lovely light effects. Have you ever used oil for light effects? It can be simply marvelous light effects and depth with oil painting.

I can't work with oils at the house. I don't have enough ventilation in my painting area.

Ah yes, that is true. ItΒ΄s kinda expensive too. In any case you are doing great with watercolours and perhaps you should develop that as your own speciality in the artbuisness.

Dude, excellent! Love the contrasting colors. Great highlights. However, wouldn't the palms of the demon's hands be dark, considering the angle of the lighting, also considering the head and shoulders are darker as well?
