You probably saw this one coming.
Another callback to Sonic #243, only this time Lien-Da whip reveal has been transposed to the roof. While I was recently going over the story arc "Return to Angel Island" [STH #138-141], I was reminded that Lien-Da's Flame Legion uses fire-based weapons. These didn't appear in Endangered Species, but I probably could have brought them back for Lien-Da's bodyguards instead of electric spears. Oh well, maybe I'll throw in a flamethrower or two later.

This is just my own thoughts but if you want you can make the Lightning Whips look more dangerous if they tear apart the ground.

Smart! I actually thought about that after I drew the page. I probably could have added some flying rubble before uploading, but the whip's contact point on the rooftop is off-panel, so I didn't really bother with it. Maybe I should have opted for a lower viewing angle. Live and learn...

I know that part where Mecha Knuckles comes out of nowhere and beats Sonic with one punch causing Sonic will be out cold for hours, I was pissed off on how Sonic is weak to Mecha Knuckles in the comics.

Lien-Da always struck me as a character who got cheated out of chances to be a badass villain, with others keeping pushing her aside to take the role of leader (generally less-interestingly). So, I love this

I've said this before, but I always enjoyed Lien-Da in the earlier issues. Penders and Bollers came up with some good stories and character development for her. But then she became Eggman's lackey and she gradually became less interesting. I still think there's some potential for her...
