Lots of backstory here!
Remington's narration provides a brief recap on the echidnas' history with references galore. Do you recognize which issues they all come from?This page was an absolute nightmare to draw. The third panel features a lot of cameos, including Locke, Kage, Finitevus and Gala-Na. Props if anyone can tell me the names of the echidnas getting whipped. The layout was so tight that there were some scenes I couldn't fit in, such as General Stryker's invasion or the Fire Legion fighting the Frost Legion. I need to practice my visual shorthand so I can fill a page without spending an eternity drawing every minute detail. Small tidbit: the female wearing a cast on the left of the second panel is one of Remington's lieutenants seen in Sonic #243.

wow the Echidnas got the worse of all the damage tragedies during the comic continuity timeline, first it was the Dingos, then Eggman grapes, Enerjak Knuckles and especially the good Finitevus.

Despite his loss, Remington has a lucid and valid point
but sonic is also right to argue the logistics of conquest are not in thier favor

Holy SHIT, that third panel is amazing dude. Shows what the echidnas endured, in a nightmarish way. Excellent call-back to different characters and situations, all crammed into Remington's thoughts.

I can understand why Tails is so concerned. Those two echidnas are holding a sledgehammer and a giant wrench, after all. I can practically hear them saying, "Suuuuuure, we'll 'fix' your plane!"
The backgrounds in these pages are so full of detail that I keep finding interesting things I overlooked. You really went A & B the C of D in that regard. Those memories sure tug on the heartstrings -- it makes it look like the echidnas have undergone one disaster after another without reprieve. Makes me feel bad for them since it seems like they just can't catch a break.
I hope we'll be seeing Finitevus again in this series (he's one of those fun villains that I personally found a relief from Eggman).
One thing that I don't think anyone has ever brought up is that although Remington's brainwashing was undone... did Knuckles really restore him to the way he was before? He was Enerjak at the time (and additionally tainted by Finitevus), so there's no guarantee that he didn't alter Remington's mind in some subconscious way. Not trying to undermine his grief over Komi-Ko, but I'm just wondering if there might be more than one reason for how he's acting here.
One minor complaint, though... panel 1 has too much "posing" in Amy, Remington and Sonic. Their stances just don't come across as dynamic. If there was more of a bend to their limbs it might seem less unnatural.

No Thrash in this story. Too much negative association with his role in the messy rewrite, so it's best to keep him out of it. Still, another key player from Endangered Species is due to show up shortly....

Before Endangered Species went the way it did, I kinda had high hopes due to the old Knuckles' cast getting exposure in the first ish.
You can imagine how dissapointed I was from then. Believe it was around Christmas time no less.

I can't tell you their names but I do know that their baby was blind, they wanted Knuckles to heal her.(I recall it was a girl)

Good memory. Yes, their daughter Desi-Ca was blind. I found it quite poignant that her parents refused cybernetic eyes, placing their faith in Knuckles instead. I hope to revisit this family at some point later in the comic.

Guess Remington has very good reasons to be in a mood all the time if his kind are slowly perishing from all this war. If only they could seek refuge on Angel Island again. I'm sure Knuckles would agree to this... If he wasn't so hotheaded and if he wasn't so ashamed to face his own kind again after being brainwashed into Enerjak.

I believe Flynn's statement about Gala-Na's death. Remember that when Lien-Da invaded, she captured Lara-Le as the matriarch of Albion. If Gala-Na was still alive, why didn't Lien-Da capture her instead? She must have been killed when Eggman bombed the city. Still, there are other named echidnas that I plan on reintroducing in my comic, such as one with a fur tunic...
