You don't need to have glaze to make a charm but if you want it to have that shine then you do. And baking time varies on the thickness of the charm. Check the package of clay for best results.

I think it would be adorable in a bottle but I don't know how it would go overall but is sounds so cute especially if you could fill it with the blue gel stuff to sort of look like water.

Awww, that would be cute to do a realistic octopus and put it in a tiny glass bottle. I think I would need uh... what's it called... resin I think?

Wait, can you just get white clay, bake it and then paint it, or do you have to use the precoloured clay?
Cute tutorial though

Oh wait, I misread your comment, I thought you were asking if I painted it. xD Sorry about that.
You can use white clay and paint it if you want, but I find it easier to use colored clay, I think it gives a better final result.

How so?
Does paint chip or become clumpy?

GrandmaThunderpants In reply to QueenofLi3s [2011-07-03 01:58:07 +0000 UTC]
Paint can chip, even with a glaze on it. If the glaze ever peels off or becomes weak then the paint is vulnerable. And just the lines of the paintbrush are unattractive to me, and I think using colored clay just gives a richer color since it's not artificial looking like paint is. When something is painted you can tell, but when the clay is colored it simply looks better in my opinion.
