Meh. Overall, I'm sort of pleased with this, even though it's really quite terrible. It's an incompleted sketch of one of my ponysonas, along with the reference images I used.

I'm trying to learn how to sketch, primarily because I want to be able to make original vector art and I doubt I would be able to go from idea to vector effectively. So I plan to sketch the idea in detail, then vector it.

To make this, I essentially just sketched out what I thought the reference looked like, then made sketch after sketch on top of it, improving it a bit each time. After the 10th revision, I sort of got tired of dealing with a few difficult things in what I wanted the final work to look like, so I rapidly and impulsively just drew in the tail and mane, sketched in an easier front-right leg, and stopped.

This was a great learning experience for me, as I was able to see what sort of misconceptions I had about MLP anatomy. For example, I REALLY thought I had gotten the proportions mostly right in the first sketch, but it turned out I was off by a mile in every respect!

The PSD has all the different revisions in separate layers, if you want to see my embarrassing process. Top reference is a pony I made with the Pony Creator we all know about, later edited into another image, and the bottom reference is from MLP:FiM Episode 1.

MLP is copyright Hasbro. My work in this image is protected by copyright, and because it's my ponysona and my private sketches, you are NOT permitted to use them for ANY reason except personal use for the purposes of enjoyment or informal education. The only exception is if you get EXPLICIT clearance from me beforehand (though I have NO idea why you'd want to use this for anything xD)
