Description adding more realistic lighting (badges...we don't need no steekin' badges!), more textures (especially on the forward part of the secondary hull), playing around with trying to make the ventral sensor dome translucent (and not really getting there), going through all of the individual meshes because normals weren't pointing the right way (MentalRay is very particular in this regard), and more bridge geometry.

once i finish off the rest of the engineering hull, there are the nacelle struts, docking ports, neck, impulse deck, and main shuttle bay for the outside.  inside, lots.

when all this is done, i'll average out the badge lighting so there aren't hotspots like there are now (inner-facing nacelle, for example).  and fix how flat (colour, reflection, and bump) the saucer edge seems to be.

packages used: Autodesk Maya, MentalRay and Adobe Photoshop

I really like the color and reflection on your gold dish.

thanks!  i did some playing around with advanced reflection sub-menus in MentalRay.  it's a combination of a painted normal map and some of the Anisotropy functions.

It's the kit-buid Constitution refit that you, too can own!

Great organic feel to this effort.

that's hilarious!

...although you do have to wonder where, exactly, one might find the anti-deuterium for the warp core.

There's lots of warp-capable, civilian starcraft in the Star Trek universe. It is reasonable to assume that with proper, sanctioned  training and licenses one can procure some anti-deuterium for a private craft.

"...with proper, sanctioned  training and licenses...."

oh.  yeah, sure. *cough*  i'll get right on that.

What?
You get the fusion powercores hot, pop over to the civilian service spacedock and fill 'er up.
The UFP Starfleet isn't the only entity in this galaxy with M/AM-powered warp drive systems, you know.

sure, but i'm a little low on the gold-pressed latinum, grebes are expensive, you know...but i'm sure those Klingons won't miss one little ol' robotic tanker.

Nice work. On the U.S.S. Walton i made the bussards slightly see-through by altering the texture opacity, maybe the same thing could be applied to your sensor dome ?

thanks!

opacity has been lowered, but i'm also playing with MentalRay's subsurface scattering settings to see if i can get a nicer, organic feel to the texture.
