Description Since my tablet is still down a did a few quick old-school sketches (5-10min).

This my first thought on a Biollante redesign. Let me know your thoughts

Biollante's "method" of transportation & regeneration/resurrection was indeed something of a deus ex machina. Even if that particle-disintegration after her first defeat converted 100% of her mass, how on earth did she put on all that extra bulk in Form 2? Solar-energy absorption over the several days leading up to that attempt to overheat Big G?

My god I just re-read my previous comment and I didn't undertand half of what I wrote! I really need to keep my post before I send it.

FYI, the first part of the Kaiju Biology Essay is up. Nothing really interesting yet - just a start.

(1) Reasonable answer...I'd go with a minimum of six, just to keep clear of the quadruped norm.

(2b) Since those flytraps seem to be especially useful for covering Big B's sides and rear arc, I'd suggest four per side, starting behind the forward legs' "shoulders" and ending near the tail-base.

(2c) That scene was memorable as one of those rare instances where a weapon/attack visibly damages Big G...most of the time it's ineffectual explosions and beam-strike sparks galore. I'm still not sure whether that funky green liquid was Bio's acid-sap or Godzilla's blood.

Rooted into the ground, huh? Would that mean Biollante employs its buried vines to move in a hurry, then uproots when it needs to pivot & maneuver?

Finally, another crazy ranged-attack proposition: in addition to that glowing caustic oral spew, Biollante can discharge a barrage of those "thorns" lining its palate & inner lower jaw alike. Each "thorn" contains a pin-point hole leading to an acid-sap reservoir at its root, and impact with a target will empty said poison into the unfortunate bugger...or splash it across said target's surface should the thorn(s) fail to penetrate. Of course, the thorns are continually replenished shark-style as Bio expels 'em.

1 - yses I think six is a good starting point

2a - 8 seems like a bit much to me, but I'll take a look at it

2b - not am i

something like that, I'm not sure ho wit works exactly - but I don't want her to rain down from teh sky

good idea with the projectile thorns, I very logical ranged attack. It would be very useful against flying kaiju

HG, this is one of the best design revisions/evolutionary stages for one of my favorite daikaiju that I've ever stumbled across. Lending Biollante a functional neck & appendages whilst retaining a distinctly non-biped build strikes me as a step in the right direction. Skull & flytrap structure alike are equally spot-on, and the 'core' organ's revised placement makes sense. Finally, the rough, bristling style employed in these sketches certainly generates an impression of thorny texture.

Question/suggestion time:
(1) Do I count six legs there? That would certainly lend additional stability.

(2) Might I suggest (a) enlarging Bio's primary teeth & tusks a skosh; (b) one or two extra pairs of flytrap-vines; and (c) the capacity to project those nasty thorn-tipped "impaling" vines from either the main maw or the base of her "feet" (and into the ground)? The latter option might be useful for either anchoring Big B in place or blindsiding targets out of apparent reach with a little pop-up action.

Glad you liked, this one came out better than expected I think. I thought moving the core made more defensive sense for the next stage of evolution.

1) To be honest I don't know how many are there, but I defintely hinted at six. My thought is that Biollante to grow legs as needed. I also thought six would look more reasonable with its large mass, but it could have more or less as needed.

2a) I think that is a good idea - this is the next step after all. I should take it up a notch.
2b) I'm not sold on a specific number, I assume more could manifest as need (but maybe not - maybe some linit would be wise)
2c) I completely forgot about those thorny vines! One of the most memorable scenes in Godzilla moviedom (in my opinion) is when the first vine blast through Godzilla's hand and then it pulls it out! I'm not sure how to add them, but I really like the feet idea. I already had the idea that bio would literaly grow into the ground through its feet - adding the surprise vine attack just makes good sense.

Thanks. It is not really a new style - this is how I typically draw. I just tend to post more "finished" works. Thanks again.

Now, that is cool looking. Makes Biollante more mobile looking than the spider-leg design.

Beware the crocodile with the power of flowers!

Very very awesome design. I like the third stage of evolution for your Biollante concept. I also like the whole, Crocodile stance. I think that makes her look extremely feral.

thanks for the comments, this is my take on a third stage of biollante's evolution. The first stage was really jsut the tentacles, 2nd stage tentacles and big-ass mouth, 3rd stage leg like appendages

Look'n good from here. Interesting to see her with actual legs, kinda like the Trendmaster's version but better. She's certainly more mobile thats for sure. The thing I wonder is, did you sacrifice the 'living landscape' impression she had for said mobility. I guess that might be up to scale and how many tentacles she could bring to bear.

well I see this as a third phase of Biollante's evolution, so the previous two would be pretty much unchanged
