Description Well here it is, my first Gojira Resurrection Reference Sheet! This took way too long, something like 13-15hrs over two weeks. But it was the first time I have digitally colored any art work, so I can't complain much. I hope you like.

This Godzilla is basically a slight modification to Godzilla Final Wars. The basic storyline that I am working with happens after the events of GFW. I recognize most of the previous movie timeline, but I reorder some events, delete others and I am not saying that what happend in the movies is exactly what happend in my timeline. You can view my timeline here. [link] I'll provide more details of my take on the Godzilla Universe in my journal in the near future.

"Updated - again"
Origin:
Godzilla is the ultimate biological construct of an extremely advanced civilization that inhabited the island nation of Mu at the end of the Cretaceous. Created using T-rex base DNA (but a vast majority of unique DNA) and advanced biological and metaphysical enginnering, it is designed to evolve and increase its power over time. Gojira was cast into hibernation during the destruction of MU prior to completing its evolution. Gojira Phase 1 is just the begining stage of Gojira's ultimate development. Released from hibernation in 1954 by atomic testing, Godzilla both terrorized and defended the earth for 100 years before the events that triggered its transformation into Gojira Phase 2 (A.K.A. Super-Gojira). More to come...

Attacks:
Teeth, claws, tail, dorsal plates, atomic fireballs, atomic beam, energy "pulse"

Defenses:
Extermely strong scales/hide, regeneration

Weaknesses:
Hide is not impenetrable, stubborn, only mildly intelligent

Special Abilities:
Limited telepathy, ability to see the infra red and ultraviolet spectrums, limited ability to create electromagnetic field, can "feed" directly from pure energy

Godzilla is copyright of Toho Co., Ltd.

I must confess, your coverage of this Godzilla's powers & development intrigues me fully as much as the artwork itself-particularly Big G's ability to 'see' in UV and IR. To me, that explains a lot regarding his ability to home in on energy sources...or pin-point 'hot' targets like choppers/attack aircraft. As for the ability to generate EM fields...are we talking anything like that little scene in the first G vs. MG flick?

That said, the color piece is a good solid job-the dull-ivory dorsals & talons and grey skin work nicely. As for the deep blue eyes...interesting and even a bit unsettling.

Yep, the EM field is that little trick he pulled in G vs. MG - I love that film!

It was my first digital color job, the lighting is a bit messed up, but i am happy with it mostly. I always thought its eyes should match its fire, that, and blue is my favorite color.

Thanks - I wanted to do something a little different with the presentation. I am an Architect, so the more technical "reference sheet" approach appeals to my inner architect. I should have Hedorah up later this week with Rodan following in another week to a week and half.

Thanks. Well, I plan on doing Hedorah, Rodan, King Ghidorah and then Godzilla Phase 2. I've got to take a break for a while, so I think Gojira Phase 2 will be in about 4-6 weeks. I hope I can get it sooner, but I have a lot of work to take care of first.

Hedorah was the first Kaiju redesign I actually completed for the series. It just flowed off my pencil and I was planning on posting it first. But then I got nervous about coloring Hedorah and I started the line art for Rodan and Godzilla. I then decided to go ahead and post Godzilla first, becuase, well, it just made sense to. I still need to color Hedorah and finish the line art for Rodan. Since Hedorah is mostly complete - I will do it first. Boy that was a long answer for short question!

Wow! I like this! It's such nice color on a nice line-art!The size chart, is that comparing an "older" Godzilla to this new one? I know the first Godzilla was only 50 meters....

hypergojira In reply to Scatha-the-Worm [2007-08-07 00:06:45 +0000 UTC]

I consider the 50 meter version and the 100 meter version the same Godzilla (all Phase 1), it just grew over the years after waking up from the atomic blast. I just thought it would be useful to show the size difference.

Ahh, I see! So, he was still young when he woke up, huh? Or was it just from taking in so much radiation?

hypergojira In reply to Scatha-the-Worm [2007-08-07 04:53:12 +0000 UTC]

Yep - it was young or ,more currectly, under developed.
