And to let those know, this scorecard is part of my premiere week ranging from May 21st to the 27th, so be on the look out!

I didn't have that much knowledge of Adventure Time when I was little, but I did watch some episodes of the show. The episodes I remember watching little were Ricardio the Heart Guy, When Wedding Bells Thaw, Gut Grinder, Loyalty to the King, Guardians of Sunshine, Belly of the Beast, and Videomakers. Later in 2014, when I came back to Cartoon Network to watch shows again, I've only seen Wake Up, Escape from the Citadel, and Sad Face. Due to the content and genre, it wasn't really my type of show back then, but then came now:

This may seem unpopular, but I think that Seasons 1-4 are the show's weakest points. While looking at the premise at first sight, it seems pretty dull and some of the characters got to me but later on ironically, it got good again. But not to keep this summary unorganized, Let's talk about the pie chart first: From a show that lasted 7 years and more than 250 episodes, the pie chart isn't like any long running cartoon's scorecard I've reviewed yet. The green slice is really big, and as for the episodes I find average or under, it only took over a quarter of the pie chart. Even more surprising that I saw is that there were 9 epic episodes and only 2 notorious episodes. The notoriety didn't do any effect to the full rating of Adventure Time, since even though there's a Z rated episode, there's more A rated episodes to overshadow that episode from tolling effect on the series.

Okay, enough with the pie chart discussion. How about we talk about the writing?

Like what I said in last paragraph, the premise is not only fairly dull but it also feels unspecific. For example, I may not know the conflict of this show first and the premise, which is about adventures, has been done in a lot of shows before. At first, I thought this show would be okay, but when the show progresses/enters it's 5th season, I began to realize how interesting this show can get. Sure, this show is awful at story arcs, but Adventure Time has very good continuity, there's a variety of episodes where the characters bond greatly and we often get to know more about the characters. Seasons 1-4 episodes are more predictable than Seasons 5-9 (yes, Season 9 has aired according to the wiki. They, along with Wikipedia, claimed that Season 8 began with Broke His Crown and ended with The Light Cloud, while Season 9 began with Orb. However, because that I have to rewrite the final ratings for the seasons because of that nonsensical edit, I won't include Season 9), but I see that most episodes focuses on the characters. They're badly introduced and can get on my nerves, but as for Seasons 5-8, I began to like them a little more. The writing has gotten more creative and brings interest to a whole new level, better continuity and characterization, and the tone can be heartwarming or funny. I would've split this section to Seasons 1-4 and Season 5-8, but I find both eras writings the same only with some cons such as being pointless, boring, or worse, wasting potential. The writing is pretty divine with a few cons, but makes me interested all the way with the tone, creativity, and how interesting and engaging it can be.

You got a generic premise and a lot of something special is done with it. Awesome. It's something I want to see with other shows from this premiere week. Awesomeness lies within animation though...

The animation is great. While it can sometimes be an eyesore, I really love the character designs from their faces, different teeth, how they look and differ from most cartoons, the colors used for them fit who they are, and they're really cute. What made me love the quality to esteem is how the title cards are designed. They fit a lot perfectly in the show, the corner rips makes the title cards more interesting, the fonts are really cool, the characters designs in the title cards are also great, and I love it how the title cards feel like they're from the 1900s/a painting (which is why I removed the black borders because the scorecard may look even more professional and cool without them). Out of every setting, the treehouse or the candy kingdom, they're all very well designed, feels like my imagination, creative, given more interesting details and shows normal life there. It looks very thought out of and hell, I think that I should've thought about that place in the first place! Though not all of the quality is magnificent, since we do got the variety of colors used for wood, the textures are pretty weak, some characters look ugly, and it could use ugly colors sometimes, but no matter what the consequences are, I love how the quality felt like a dream all along.

Okay, not all of the animation is great, but I still love it, probably the highlight of this show. Is it me, or does the animation feel like the highlight of any show I review? Or is it the characters that are the nadir of any show I step foot on?

Ehh... the characters are okay, nothing special about them, aside from the fact that they're given more interesting details about them. A lot of them can get annoying sometimes, and worst of all, some characters are poorly introduced where I think that he/she is a freak (what I thought about Flame Princess in Incendium & Hot to the Touch), not liking the fact that he/she flirts (Ice King), and a few characters are one dimensional (Root Beer Guy). Though there are some characters that are interesting, some are pretty dull thanks to their attitude, appearance, development, rehashing another character from a show and keeping me pretty bored. I'll admit that there are a lot of creative characters, but I feel like one of those characters are trying to be like another character from this show. I could also get irritated from their voices, which could lead to me muting the volume while watching an episode. I think I've talked enough about the characters about how badly introduced they are and could get on my nerves, but still, I love how we get to know more about them, their development, and I can love them a lot sometimes.

At first I thought Adventure Time would be okay, like a lot of shows I've reviewed back then, but it surprised me with the final rating:

What made this show great is how it takes a generic premise and makes it new again by being more creative, interesting, and the tone being the best thing, animation that is really well crafted that designs the characters and title cards awesomely that makes it looks like your imagination, and development is visible, but not all of it is great because it can sometimes be bland, ugly, or I can dislike a variety of characters from the show at first sight. Seriously, the writers need to work how they introduce the characters well instead of giving them an annoying attitude that made me skip the entire episode and move onto the next. While I can say that this show isn't great, it's still ample (72%), and it successfully outsmarted those okays where I can enjoy a show that I've watch recently now. It's such a surprise for a show that lasted for so long has actually something good. Please, I expect this to happen with Regular Show, I wanted that show to be a jolly good show.
