Description
A digital lineart tutorial I created for use in Photoshop. Theoretically it could be carried over into Painter, but would work better in Photoshop.I used Photoshop CS2 for this, but I would assume that the version generally does not matter as long as it is relatively new.
You WILL need a tablet for this tutorial. There is no way around it. Wacom makes the best tablets, most off-brands break easily. I used an 9x12 Intuos 3 Wacom tablet, however a 6x8 is just as good. However, a 4x5 tablet is too small and out of scale with your screen. Steer away from them, but it is better than nothing.
I will add an FAQ if it is really needed.

The tutorial is awesome, but, unfortunately, I can't even sketch in Photoshop

Wow, this is simply beautiful, exactly what I was looking for in a lineart tutorial. Clear, easy to read instructions, plus a few laughs on them. Pictures to show what you were doing, describing the opacity of the brushes, and WHY it should be at that opacity and size, simply amazing. This helps me a whole lot in my 'quest' for trying to make my lineart better. Its a very long process, but the end picture is so much worth it. Thank you for doing this.

What brush were you using? I cant seem to find it in my photoshop. The thin to thick back to thin thing... Ive only got a solid dot brush. O.o
Did that make any sense? lol

Great tutorial. I follow the same basic process, starting with a scanned sketch and then doing the final lineart over it, but this tutorial really takes that to the next level. Thanks for your help!

Thats a pretty helpful tutorial, thank you. Alot of the steps I use already, but it was interesting to see that I am not the only one doing it this way and if this is the way you do it to get such great results I must be going on the right direction.

You've got a similar method as I have! Takes a long time, but the result is worth it! Very good tutorial too- just one minor crit- her hat doesn't quite look like it's sitting on her head... or if it is, her head would be quite long... but all in all, an awesome pic!

really wonderful tutorial.. it makes me want to invest in a bigger wacom tablet - hehe
this was really helpful to me in every way. i don't have a scanner and i've always felt a bit limited because i have to sketch directly into the computer.
thanks so much!
