I'm a big Goonies fan (I even named my cat Goonie), so this small tribute was a long overdue.Related content

That tiny bit of grey makes this drawing so much better, did you meet Sean Astin?

Candy bars--bringing people together! The truffle shuffle still cracks me up. Wasn't aware of the octopus thing, which shows you how long it's been since I've seen the movie. Nice tribute.

Yeah, they'd originally filmed a sequence where Mouth and Stef are pulled under water by a giant octopus, but mouth stuffs his radio into it's mouth, and it floats out to sea as the radio plays a Cindy Lauper song. I imagine Spielberg and Donner thought this gag was too goofy, or else the octopus was too fantastic alongside the rest of the movie's more believable moments of action, and that's why they cut it. How they forgot about Data mentioning the Octopus at the end of the film is beyond me.

Classic dropped stitch in the narrative. Those happen a lot in any text, even ones done by high-powered Hollywood muckety-mucks like Speilberg and Donner.
Re. the Cyndi Lauper song: classic, I tells ya, the Goonies Theme. One version of the video had clips of the movie, another version has the cast plus many of the WWF wrestlers (my faves are Albano, Piper, Andre the Giant, and Classy Freddie Blassie) [link]

HEY YOO GUYYYYS!!!
A boy and his Mutated Best Friend!
One of the better parts of the whole movie, and it's a damn shame they really don't make films like this anymore. (I'm still miffed they took out the scene with the giant octopus.)
Thanks for sharing Jay!

Yeah--and yet they still mention the giant octopus at the end of the movie! Weird!
