Description
This is a first for me.Going back and redoing and existing painting. Eep!
OK first of all for those who haven't this is the first attempt.
--->[link]
Based an image [link] the beautiful and talented was kind enough to let me paint.
So why do it again? A number of reasons.
First of all after having so much fun with the dark background in pastels, I thought I'd see what difference it made wiht oils. So I could tell what difference it made more easily, I used an image I'd done before to compare.
Secondly I allways thought it would look better round this way. I'm not sure if it really does, but there you go.

have fun

I had to readd this since I changed my account. It's still very lovely, the red especially.

The shadows, highlights and colors are wonderful. I absolutely adore the blood-red sheets, and that they go around her head this way. Great job on the way the color of the sheets reflects on her skin. Very nice work.

I would have a hard time suggestion to anyone to go back and redo, but you did it with skill! (possibly ease seeing how talented you are) I really like her skin tone (shades and highlights bring out accurate shapes) and the couple strands of hair peeking out. The clothe looks like a photo Nice work-

well thanks.
It really wasn't with ease I assure you, sadly my talents fall short of my ambitions most of the time, and I just have to sweat it out for weeks
My skillz are improving though I think

first I thought it was oil
I 'm very bad with pastels
probably like you with watercolors or worse xD
I'm very fond of painting bodies so I realy admire your work.

Thank you. That one actaully is an oil, but you are far from the first person to think it was a pastel, which I'm happy with I think.

lmao....
As I am viewing this, in the background comign from the TV I hear "Halleujah! Halleujah!"
Mind you, I have been drinking Gin and such but i must say, the song said it all!
Brilliant work- i especially love the elbows. SO soft and delicate and her skin looks so milky.
Grand...

well, i have to admit, the first one was a bit more vibrant and had more life to it. On the other hand, this verson is much smoother/softer and more realistic/ life-like.
Amazing Job!

Jumprabbit In reply to Fnogis [2007-01-25 13:06:27 +0000 UTC]
Well yeah I agree completly.
The first one was done in a burning flash of inspiration, the second with lots of hindsite, cool and calculated, very well planned.
I think its personal preference which is better, good example of how different the same image can be

Well thanks, the slide show took a bit longer then I thought it might ot put together..but you get that.
I'm amazed how different the 2 paintings are considering while working on it I really thought it was looking very much the same.
Starting on brown really helps keep it all cool.
