Description
Oil on Canvas, 120cm X 90cm.First painting for the year.
Hooray.
It's a portrait of Marcy.
Been working on this forever. Maybe 150 hours..maybe more.
Here's some helpful WIP shots to give you all a sense of scale, and hopefully a sense that I really did have to paint the thing, starting with a white canvas...it was hard.

thank you, I was inspired at the start, but I've worked so hard on it for so long I'm at that stage where I don't know if its any good anymore.

Oh I know EXACTLY what you mean! It must be the artist's curse or something. Wouldn't it be lovely to do all the hard work and then feel really good at the end of it, but perhaps if we did then we wouldn't be driven to paint another??
But just look at all the wonderful comments and let them be your eyes until you've got some distance on it. I hope you get to see how amazing it is some day!

Painting is really a lot like drawing, I started working in black and white then gradually added colours.
You can handly tones so you'll be fine

It's just stunning! I love so many elements of this painting, and what a gorgeous model.
I think of all your paintings of Marcela this gives us the truest insight into her personality.

Hun, when the work is as good as yours, take all the time in the world. A little anticipation won't kill me. Besides, its not like you can just knock something out in 5 minutes. Its been a while since I painted, but I still remember how much time it takes.
