Description
I get a lot of questions about how I get my lineart to come out looking so professional looking. As promised, I finally got around to doing a tutorial on how I ink. =3 It's not the most complicated way to do lineart in the world, but it works for me. <33Finished picture used in this tutorial:

It follows a lot of the same techniques, only it's a different program. <3

Yup! ^^ Gaaah really?? @^@ I'll have to check again because I ALWAYS have my tablet connected. >.< ...Or does it have to be hooked up BEFORE opening photoshop? I hear that's what happens sometimes.

;3 It probably has to be hooked up before you open photoshop. I always keep mine connected so I'm not sure if it really has but that's what I'd guess.

Try changing pen pressure on your tablet/pen. You do that on the computer somewhere, I cannot tell you where your control options would be, but mine is under tablet Pc. Try in control panel or where you saved your tablet program.
Sorry if you have already fixed the problem ^^ But mine does that sometimes and I just change/reset the pen pressure.

Maybe you would want to try re-installing your tablet? I had the same problem, and then I figured out mine wasn't installed.

Wow...this is one of the best tutorials I have ever come across. Thank you so much for posting this so other people from the deviantart community could benefit from this!
I can't wait to try this one out.
Hopefully it won't be too different since I have Photoshop CS3.

KaiserTiger In reply to Irukapooka [2010-11-15 02:36:28 +0000 UTC]
It shouldn't be. I'm pretty sure everything I used here works about the same in CS3 as in Element 5.0.
And you're welcome! Hopefully it'll help.

This tutorial is great! Thank you sooo much for taking the time to make it (:
I had a quick question though.. I use the same version of Photoshop as you do (elements 5.0) and I'm having an issue with my brushes. Like shown in step three, I can't find where to make my brush tool have the faded/tapered ends like your brush tool shows. I've looked all over and even tried digging in tutorials, but I've found nothing :/ Can you possibly help me out?

Grayflower In reply to Grayflower [2010-10-01 02:33:37 +0000 UTC]
Oh nevermind, I actually got it figured out haha (:

KaiserTiger In reply to Grayflower [2010-10-01 02:24:51 +0000 UTC]
Sure, no problem. That wavy look to your brushes means you're able to use pen pressure. It'll only show up if your using a tablet though. If you're using a mouse or don't have pen pressure turned on to your tablet, it'll just show up as a round circle. You can still get the same effects as tablet drawn lineart by using the eraser to taper the edges of the line to make it look like it was drawn with a pen, but I find that's a lot of work. ;3
Hope that helped some. ;3

Thanks a bunch! Until now I just took a brush and drew the lines directly on the original sketch! (I had no idea what layers where...)

Just an other question:how can I hide a layer?

KaiserTiger In reply to Tigerdancer [2010-08-30 19:35:00 +0000 UTC]
There should be a little eye symbol beside the layer. ;3 Just click that.

For some reason, this didn't work for me. o3o I dunno, I followed everything you said in here, but even when I minimized the picture, the lines were still blurry. And I have Elements 5.0, too. So I'm not sure what went wrong...

It helps to see this in a similar version of photoshop to mine. I hate seeing them done with CS cause I'm always worried my version will be missing certain parts of it
Thanks! I'll have to try it asap

KaiserTiger In reply to Tafuta [2010-08-11 17:38:30 +0000 UTC]
This one took almost 4 hours to make. I srsly thought I wouldn't have enough patients to finish it. Haha, but I did.
But my tablet was a present so I'm not exactly sure.
I've heard some where around $400-500, but that's only because mines a big sized tablet. :3 You can get them for much cheaper.
xD I want to make a paw and claws tutorial someday too. But thanks btw!
