Thank you, Richard!
I know, the photograph of that painting was taken and uploaded 12 years ago, all I had then was a crappy camera.

funny, whenever I look at this painting it's black (with texture)....well, obviously...
but (and that's an important 'but' and maybe the miraculousness about your painting)
the longer I look at it, the lesser the intensity of this black darkness gets
like when you're turning off the light and your eyes start to accomodate and you're able to see shapes and contours
slowly
or I've gone nuts finally
and as a collector of 'black only paintings' I'm going to it

You may have gone nut's...I'm not the one qualified to diagnose such a condition ;-p
Regarding the painting...I'm trying to think of the word, i think it's relief... the response you have given is like spiritual food (now who sounds mad) for me. People look and see black and move on, but it's not, light is always there, being absorbed and reflected, giving entry into the story of the work...the experience you have/had with the painting is the one I want to create. Sometimes it's really important for someone to tell me I'm doing my job properly, thanks!

Minimalism at it's best.
There is a photographer here o dA Jacinta :iconKatoCat: that loves to take photos in this fashion.
Dark on dark. Her photos make me see darkness in a different light and this is exactly what you have done here...
If I were a boat out at sea & I missed this beacon I would be impaled on the rocks. The fog, mist seems to have devoured the light leaving everyone blind.

...at it's best, well thank you so much!
I think when it comes to the word 'fun' (when talking about the physical act of painting), I have more fun doing 'colour field' paintings than any other technique. I have always loved Barnett Newmans massive works in MOMA in NY and dotted around. Also the 'Rothko Room' in the Tate Modern in London...I can sit for ages seeing the poetic rhythm and the philosophical stories in them, if not that, I'm transfixed by the velvet glow which comes from them in terms of surface and paint (could go on)...so that's some compliment...thanks!

I had no idea who he was so had to Google him...the computer is a wonderful thing.
maybe the pictures do not do his work justice, but I did NOT like them... they are bold & in bright colors & have geometrical shapes which I love; but he has left a major & fundamental part out of his works....reduced them to an empty room, so there is nothing left just the color on the walls.
It did remind me of that nun that used to be on PBS & used to critic paintings & it (the painting) was a white canvas with a little red square painted in the center (or some such thing) & she always saw "SEX, it's all about Sex".
Which always made me laugh.... What the ...It's just a square!!! I always figured she was transmitting her feelings to the paintings.
