i'm going to try that out, thanks for the help! ^_^ but i have 1 question. for the lasso tool, i always get messed up on that part. when u outline the skin with the lasso, can u disconnect it without messing up the whole thing? cause when i do it, i have to have the whole thing into one line and it gets really hard doing it that way. i'm really confused ^_^;;

Lina01 In reply to inuyashaluver1012 [2006-02-21 13:58:08 +0000 UTC]

no you cant disconnect :/, but when I'm using it, I do little part by little part, to do that you'll have to check if your selection tool is in "add to selection" mode (in the top tool bar when you're using the lasso). For example, I select the hand of my character, then I select the arm, and this new selection is added to the old one of the hand. I'm not sure if my explanation is understandable but I hope it answers to your question ^^ ... re-ask me if it's too confuse ^^

I'm going to try this out, but from what I can tell this is one of the best line art/colouring tutorials I've seen for a long time.

Very informative, simple and easy to follow, without being overly patronising to people who already know what the pen tool is for

Your tutorial is the best i've seen!! =^-^= It's not confusing like some other ones ><

But there's one step I don't get.. The first layer (the sketch you start on), it's "Locked" so I'm unable to change the opacity like the way you did it XD How do I "unlock" it?? or is there another way? O.o

Thankyou very much!! ><''

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lina01 In reply to ardanas-c [2005-08-04 08:57:49 +0000 UTC]

you have to click twice on the layer and choose OK in the box ^^

Probably the best tutorial I've ever seen on DA, you showed how do everything instead of just one thing, like most tutorials! Very useful, and nice ending pic!!

I don't get it... aah!!! XD
I do it completely diffrent, but much badder.
I don't get how you do that, so... beautifull. I guess I'm doomed to do it the crappy way forever...

excellent tutorial. i think if i read it again when not so dead tired it will help me with shading as for right now... all i see is the word opacity and some numbers.

i've tried to use the pen tool to do the lines but it didn't turn out like yours..
the lines looks like...uh..sharp.. ;
the lines doesn't look smooth like yours..
what should i do??? @______@;;;;;

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lina01 In reply to hikariyuki [2005-06-15 13:23:34 +0000 UTC]

I think I know why, go into the path menu and right-click on your workpath, then choose Stroke path ([link] )
And choose the brush, and OK.
I think the tool selected is the pencil, that's why the lines are sharp.

Wow, good tutorial, really helpful I was just wondering, when I shade (with the brush) the hair and such, I find it very hard to be precise...I dont have a tablet, I'm not even sure if I know what it is....Well anyway I was thinking, do you think that the pen tool works too?

Interesting, I'm getting Photoshop for my birthday, and it's nice to know there's someone out there willing to share what they know! (I love the purple hair on your character, by the way. Awesome.) Does this tuturial work for Photoshop 8.0 as well?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Leo21 In reply to OmniNashi [2005-06-12 06:19:01 +0000 UTC]

Well I'm using this technique right now with PS v. 8, and it works about the same. Its that Adobe has a knack for making things harder every version, but the trade off is that its has more stuff and is ultimetly better >w<
(BTW I haven't used this tech on any of my new art, so don't think this technique reflects it. My art considered to this masterpiece is nada XD) This tech niques is great, easy to use, and makes your art looks spiffy and clean once your done with it . The only thing you need to master is the line tool and opacity levels.

Lina01 In reply to OmniNashi [2005-06-07 16:49:27 +0000 UTC]

As it's about basic tools of photoshop, I think it works for photoshop 8, but I've never tested it, so I'm not sure

I'm having troubles with your tutorial on the line art part when i use the pen tool it fills in the space with color and when i got to the paths i can click on the the little circle to draw the path. I dont know if you would but i figured i would ask sorry for troubling you.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lina01 In reply to souloftheblade [2005-06-07 17:04:50 +0000 UTC]

I think I undesrtand, when you got the pen tool, have a look at the tool bar ([link] ), check if you've selected the "path" tool like in the pic I've linked here.
