Star Trek has a hit movie and Star Wars has a crappy TV show... has the world gone topsy turvy?!My thoughts on the new Trek Movie - it was awesome. Exceeded all my expectations, a great movie. But there is also sadness, since this movie also burns 40+ years of Trek history that I love. YES, the movie gives fans the bone that it's an alternative timeline and not actually changing history, but that doesn't matter. The Classic Trek universe (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY) is dead. Paramount won't be going back to it. Imagine for all you comic fans, if they had cancelled the classic Marvel Universe when they came up with Ultimate Spider-man. Ultimate Spidey is great but...I grew up with classic Marvel U and I love it, even though lately it has gotten pretty sucky.
So while this is a great movie, I will still miss the real Star Trek. The movie's not without flaws of course... Nimoy felt to me to give the weakest performance of the cast, or of his career....Uhura was a totally useless character who added nothing to the movie...and overall it was all action with no real substance or meaning. But it was so good and so much fun I can look past the problems.
Go see it if you haven't!

But really, couldn't agree more with what you said, Star Trek XI is a great movie. But I am pretty upset how they've destroyed the entire universe that was the movies and series' with just one movie. Which, don't get me wrong, was great, but.. I don't know, still kinda upset that we won't see any of the timeline pre Star Trek XI in the future.

I enjoyed the new Star Trek, but Uhura was UGH.
And, they should've brought back the old StarTrek Universe.
But that's just me.
It was still a good film, and it was a good way to grab new fans.

Wait a minute. You can't really compare because part of the reason the new Star Trek movie was awesome is because the prequel trilogy of Star Wars was kinda shit. JJ had a frame of reference of what not to, while episode I thought that Jar Jar was a good idea. Plus, the only prequel that I compare is episode III (having learned some of it's mistakes, and being kinda decent). Sorry for all that, I just wanted to say that I thought the picture was funny.

When I realized that there will be no more Star Trek movies it really brought tears to my eyes. So yeah, a great movie, but a real tragedy in of what it stands for..........................

I have seen both movies and i agree that the star trek movie kicked the I II III star wars movies ass...but it is a scrap of crap in a hairy ass of a wookie compared to the awesomness of IV V VI star wars episodes, just my opinion dont mean to insult anyone

That's very entertaining. Spock wouldn't act like that, but it's funny anyway.
I also feel that the new movie threw all the history of the original series right out the window; and they use 'alternate timeline' for their excuse. They destroyed Vulcan, exposed Romulans, killed Spock's mom, they might as well have killed Pike while they were at it.
The movie was still pretty cool.
Back in Kirk's day, of you wanted to fight someone, you essentially had to get in their face and brawl with them.
