Description Here's my 10,000 pageview kiriban to you all!

I know my tutorial looks wordy and cramped and even contains a bit of math, but if you want to learn to make plushie shirts that imitate real shirts, then this is the way.

This tutorial, I must say, is the real deal I feel like it's a big secret that I'm giving away, but one should be generous with their knowledge...

I haven't been able to find any other tutorials like this, so it should be of great help to those who actually follow it through. I should add that if you're going to use it, read ahead before cutting or sewing anything!

Tutorial (c) me
If you use it, you don't have to credit me, but it would be nice to see what you made with it

Lol, yeah, that Ikea ruler lasted me like 9 months! I taped it up a lot of times, but it was still usable, haha. Hopefully the tutorial doesn't seem confusing. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask ^_^

It looks confusing, but if you follow it as you're making a shirt, it's actually not so bad (I hope)

Do you use felt for these?

Meowchee In reply to Loplovinglydia [2011-08-18 09:26:52 +0000 UTC]

No, but I assume it could be used with any fabric. Felt might be a little too stiff unless you get the really soft kind

So... Is it like this:
Hair: Felt (My favorite to work with) or furry stuff
Clothes: Cotton/Leather/Denim,etc. (maybe felt vests?)
Shoes: Any material?
Face: Painted
Body: ???
Stuffing: Regular stuffed animal cotton stuffing?
Sorry I ask so many questions, I started making plushies a long time ago but it didn't really work out so I figured out it was a combonation of my materials and the shape I was cutting out lol they never came out well. I want to work on them again once I find materials... but I want to know what I'm looking for a little better so I don't waste any money.

Felt tends to work well with hair, but I usually use fleece and occasionally faux fur. For clothes, I think anything works as long as it's durable. Shoes would probably work better with a slightly thicker fabric like fleece or pleather. For bodies, I find the best fabric is microsuede (usually found in the upholstery section). I hear other people like deersuede and velour as well. Yup, stuffing is just poly-fil Good luck with your plushing!
