Description
AVATAR Fan Art - Character - 3D RenderAvatars are hybrids combined using the DNA of native Na'vi living on Pandora and Humans.
Avatars have some different anatomical features compared to the Na'vis. Avatar's have 5 finger hands instead of 4 finger hands.
Direct Maxon Cinema4D R11.5 render without any postwork.
M4 based 3D mesh using advanced morphs and other modifieres. I did some mayor improvements on the body and head morphs. Eyes, Nose and Ears are now Na'vi like. The body morph is adjusted. It was a challenge to get the Na'vi eyes. Believe me! Resolution is 2000x200 pixel but I can render it in any higher resolution.
Advanced and complex light and reflection setup.
Dont ask me about the render time!
Thanks to Messange-Bleue-Stock for the base texture [link]

You did an awesome job! <3 The only thing I can possibly see that is wrong is that the torso isn't long enough and the bridge of the nose is slightly off but even that is minor compared to the awesome work here ^_^ Great job! YOU ROCK!

Thank you. This can hapen caused by the ligthing setup in the 3d scene. I will shure check that in future renerings.

The expression of my rendering before the Avatar was a little bit different but charming. See here: [link]

You did an excellent job!!! The only thing you might want to fix is that Avatar or Na'vi, the torso is longer than humans along with the neck but the neck on this one is good. I dunoo though the torso might be correct. I dunno it just might be me...

You are shure right!
It was a challenge getting a standard human male mesh so close to the Na'vi anatomical features. I am know working on the female version. I will try to keep your points in mind!
Thank you for your detailed and kind feedback!

This is an AMAZING render!
I think, as a personal opinion, that it needs more. Even one not of the people of the Na'vi wear something more than the loin-skirt.
Other than that, which is so small and petty (forgive me!) I think it's still amazingly done. Definitely an instant fav.

Im not sure you have read my tutorial. Lol. But yes, Avatars have 5 fingers, but only a few avatars have human noses, which i noticed. like grace, her avatar ears are smaller, and she and her assistant have human like noses.
Heres my tutorial if you havnt seen it yet. [link]
Im going to add another one since i've been noticing some more features of the avatars and Na'vis

Aww, thanks ^^ I was soo stumped on what to do to catch someones eye. But im in the middle of making another one. I might not have it pro looking, but i think the information is well done. But since im being spammed by the group, im going around and posting it on some art that i see that needs some improve ment, such like the ears lol and sometimes the hands, which im making a tutorial on it now. the hands, toes, braids and alittle more.

Yeah sure thing. Well i guess you know for next time to look up tutorials before you start ^^ Well, you wouldnt have to, you'd just need to research the photos that were given to the public i assume. because thats how i made the tutorial, just by looking at images.
And your welcome ^^ Keep up the good work, and i hope to get as good as you since im majoring in animation and soon will work with Maiya and 3Ds Max.
Which by the way, what did you use to make it?

mike-reiss In reply to UnknownBlood [2010-01-15 21:26:47 +0000 UTC]
I used Maxon Cinema4D.
I use this program now for over 10 years.
I have tried 3dsmax and know all the other big render packages. But I stick with C4D. For me its the best render ever!

Is it easier then the other two?

mike-reiss In reply to UnknownBlood [2010-01-15 21:42:49 +0000 UTC]
I would not say easier. It is the first 3d package I had contact with and I know in depth how to handle it. Photoshop was the first pixel manipulating software I had and I will stick with it becaus I use it for over 16 years now. So choose carfull your first software you are working with!

Well, when i was young, i started off with photoshop elements. now i have photoshop CS4 lol But Im really more interested in 2D, but learning new programs is always fun for me. Thanks for the tip about that though. I'll use it well ;D

For real great rendering you need to know photoshop, illustrator some other cool software...
If you are going to do 3d animations instead of 3d stills you need to know aftereffects, soundforge or audition, premiere, encore... all that cool stuff. I know what I am talking about.
You can see some of my animations here: [link]
There all other graphic field I am working on...

The distance should be right concerning my reference files.
It might seem a little odd caused by the ligthing setup...
